Marriage: The ring of Mara and beyond.

Ring of Mara
While the ring of mara is nice for early leveling, I'd like to see it also provide some end-game utility. Perhaps some unique traits (while grouped):
* If you are below 50% health, you take 30% less damage, but your partner takes 15% additional damage (like an implicit Guard, if someone's health drops too low)
* You both passively gain minor fortitude, minor endurance and/or minor intellect.
* It should automatically scale to your level
* Comes with a prismatic trait
* The ring could "level up" the longer you are married and/or more time you are grouped together
* A way to "craft" your ring of mara into any set piece (but only applies when you are grouped).

Other ideas
* Housing: I was hoping there would be some implicit sharing here... There must be something neat that could be done here.
* Ability to give your spouse "bind-on-pickup" items; once given, they would be then permanently bound.
* Joint bank account, where you can store/share 50 extra items
* Automatically deposit 50% off all looted gold into partner's inventory ;-)

Almost all those ideas would be P2W, so no thanks

I do wish the Ring of Mara was at least not a burden in endgame.

My husband and I have married characters, and have decided once they reach level 50 we will keep the rings in their inventory but stop wearing them.

It would be nice if there was some other way to denote they are married without giving up a gearslot, even if we also lost the xp bonus and other bonuses. We like the role play aspect of being married for those two (don't even care about the xp bonus to be honest, they don't have training gear either), but are too interested in endgame to give up the bonus of that slot once we reach it.
Why be normal when you can be better?

Any one of these suggestions would be amazing! Rings of Mara are a really fun to make a levelling commitment with another player, but after level 50 they get taken off even if you still play together.

It would be really nice to have a reason to keep wearing them. I especially agree that they should be enchantable!

This. While it sounds neat and all; There's no way to replicate this in game without spending real money to get those benefits.

P2W is a good argument against anything too flashy, but I think there are ways to make this unique item viable in end game. One idea off the top of my head.

Make the shrine to Mara interactable after level 50 - so you can choose one of three different buffs - each buff is identical to the 1-piece bonus of a monster set (something everyone is given for free at level 45, and can access through undaunted dailies, and which also use up one item slot).

    1) Lovers embrace - tanking buff from chudan - adds physical and spell resistance
    2) Lovers comfort - healing buff from Rkugamz - adds 2% healing done
    3) Lovers passion - DPS buff from Kena - adds spell and weaopon damage.

It certainly doesn't have to be. There could easily be a quest that would give you a pledge of mara, perhaps something like the litany of blood (just less killing); you'd need to be grouped and perform some action in each zone and the final reward could be a pledge; or maybe its simply a reward for completing Caldwell's gold.

Also, some of the other suggestions don't impact PvAnything ... as it sits now, the ring is the opposite; It's a gold ring that doesn't come in arcane, healthy or robust and just takes up an inventory slot. It's nearly the equivalent of golding out training gauntlets that don't belong to a set. I wouldn't want to make it BiS, but some incentive would be nice. I liked the suggestion from @SolarCat02 of having some aesthetic passive (without the ring)... perhaps you hold hands if you are close and idle.

Why do you want to resist when your lover embraces you?
Are you so uncomfortable with your lover that you want extra healing to tolerate them?
O.o Why the hell do you want more damage? Do you and your lover passionately kill each other?!

Yeah, that's some crazy "love"! :D

Some very nice ideas here; I'm actually interested in seeing more nuance all throughout the game. For example it was nice when dailies were added for the Mages/Fighters guild et al..
    Baskin Robbins always finds out.

So long as it doesn't stack; sure it could work. However what the OP was suggesting? Yeeeah. No thanks.
