The most annoying class usually gets the most hate.

Even when I'm not ganking on my main or my sap tank, there's usually at least 1 player who feels the need to grief.

Just don't let it get to you. If you've beaten him, it means you were the better player. And if he griefs, you're also the better person ;)

I wouldnt go so far as to say a ganker is a better player. With the viper/veli proc combo its pretty easy to pull a successful gank off. If gankers were better players they wouldn't fall over like a house of cards when they can't pull the gank off. Glass canons or not.

Thank you for confirming what I just said: ganker succeeds and wins then he's been the better player, failed the gank and dies instead of retreating then he's not

Killing someone from stealth makes them a good ganker but not necessarily a better player. Its a one dimensional skill set. Kill unexpecting people and run like a coward if it fails. Open battle is the true test of skill. Resource management, cc management, play and counter play are marks of a skilled player. Not who can hit 2 buttons and kill an unknowing victim.

Haha have we been playing the same game???

    Resource managment??? What resource managment?

CC management??? You mean unbreakable cc, or perhaps the broken double stun, or maybe you mean the lack of soft cc cool down.

Counterplay? What is the counter play to eye of the storm or proc on proc on proc? What is the counter play for these troll builds that don't fall to 20 people hammering away? Counterclaim to soul assualt?

Ya sorry but as the game currently stands, open world is about hitting 2 buttons and waiting for procs or eye of storm to be up. Doesn't really take skill.

In fact, a true ganker running around truly solo ganking groups is quite skillful. What is not skillful about ganking is 6 people waiting in stealth to gank one or two guys.

Who said anything about Eye of the storm?

I run solo, avoid zergs and try to engage stragglers. Much like a ganker, only difference is I run a bruiser build. I can kill quickly but if I run into another tank build then the real battle begins. I had a 5 minute at least battle with a Dk stam tank last night. It was epic and the kind of gameplay I love.

Resource management is key if the fight lasts longer than 5 secondsl lol. So is knowing when to take a hit and when to let a cc run its course instead of breaking right away. There is still skilled fights in this game. You just have to find them.

sorry but resource management is a joke. if people have trouble managing resources after 5 seconds something is wrong. fights between two good players last so long because of lack of resource management. And sure the overall point you make with hard CC is true (when they work correctly. with unbreakable cc bug and double cc bug it throws a wrench into a fight). But softt cc such as roots are just spammed. no cooldown at all. no strategy involved.

and when i complain about tanks, I dont mean the "tanky" people. I mean players that make troll builds and it literally take s20 people hammering on them to kill them, the type of player that a single player even players such as sypher and fengrush just walk away from them. There is no counter play to that.

I brought up eye of storm b/c you talked about skilled gameplay which involves counterplay. My point was that many players run eye of storm, proc sets, soul assualt, these troll tanks etc dont offer counterplay.

    but i digress.

All fair points. I agree that PVP is in the worst state its ever been in for all the reasons you have stated. No bebating that skill in general has taken a back seat to proc sets, troll builds and Eye of the Storm spamming zergs.

There are still good fights out there. Just getting harder to find.

You shouldn't feel guilty for playing a class that is designed to be played that way. It is a stealth/gank class and that is it's primary focus.
Next time someone sends you a whisper raging about you ganking them, ask them to stop playing and using the class utilities THEIR character has, you know... To be fair and all.. You know, it's very unfair when that templar heals himself back to full health in an instant, or that tank soaks up and absorbs all that damage, or that sorcerer streaking and crystal-fragging everyone all over the place.. Very, very unfair! Because how dare they play to their strengths and how their classes were designed, it's blasphemous!

    Yeah...
    Just ignore them OP.

Too many nightblades are zergers who think they are ganking. They don't gank you solo anymore they wait until you are fighting like 4 people then they incap you from stealth. The number of solo gankers left is almost none existent

My favorite is when dk's complain about not being fought in open 1v1's as if their class isn't designed for extended fights while not needing more than 800 recovery for either resource lol.

If I am not in a group I also solo roam around and gank. Not only solo targets but also members in a zerg. I stalk them until I see a chance.

I don't have any proc set and am magblade. Ganking for me does not mean one shotting. I do get the upperhand but the table can turn very quick since I wear fully light armor and am no match against stamina proc set uber builds.

If I kill one, there is a chance I get the same response.

If I die instead they call me a noob ganker.

either way I don't care. If I get the kill Iove to swim in their tears of agony. If I die, well I just respawn and dust of my loin cloth and get back into it.

    It's just a game afterall

Tell them to run magelight, they are clearly not very smart if they don't cause that means they have a hard time going stealth on you and even if they attack you from stealth you wont get stunned and you will only receive 50% of the damage.

My Guy runs 5 pieces of light with 2 pieces of heavy armour with all Impenetrable alongside Magelight, about 50 CP in Hardy and 50 into the CP that increases critical resistances and sometimes I have had gankers attack me and not even take off 10% of my health, it's hilarious.

I wouldn't bother about it. I don't really play PVP a lot and when i occasionally do, I do it with my PvE skills, PvE gear, and PvE tactics (sneaky), because I'm too lazy to switch items and micromanage, which means i'm not really a good ganker in PvP, and I die a lot when I try, but once in a while I succeed.

There's skills in game to counter it, and they're just frustrated they didn't manage to counter it at the moment. So just brush it off and have fun :)

Eh, it really is more than ganking on a NB absolutely takes no skill.

I've done my fair share of ganking in other games. Probably my favorite stealth-based play-style was playing as an infiltrator, way back in Planetside 1. Now, I'm certain that some of you are going to complain that the two games aren't really comparable (one being a MMOFPS, the other a AvA MMORPG) but when we are talking about stealth and PvP interactions, I'm going to say they indeed are.

    So, let's compare.

    Planetside Infiltrator:

    Pros:
-Speediest class in the game. About 1.3x faster than the average soldier, more with the <Surge> implant.
-Completely invisible when not moving. Very difficult to see (for the majority of players) when moving
-Able to heal and revive players from stealth. (Doing this would give you a small amount of potential tells. As the medical applicator had some glowy bits that showed through cloak.
-One-shot kills with combat engineering (Traps. Mostly mines/boomers(claymores)
-Two-shot kills with proper knife setups
    -Strong harassment with other weapons

    Cons
-Fragile. About four bullets, most explosions, or a strong fart could kill you.
-Resource intensive. Fighting in any contested territory required two implants to avoid detection/run away, both of which were a constant drain on stamina. Lots and lots of patiently waiting for stamina to recharge so you could run after attacking
-Extremely limited inventory. Unless you could loot or re-arm you were limited to five pistol-sized objects (Combat engineer items count as one per, pistol counts as one, ammo counts as one, medical applicator counts as one... medi-kits had a wierd shape and took up two slots. Loadout Management was very tricky as a cloaker, and almost everyone looted constantly)
-Attaining two-hit knife kills required a special implant, which either replaced your escape ability or your ability to see enemy health.
-Noisy. Fighting more than a single ambushed player required a ton of amushing, hit and run, and movement. It was not uncommon to get killed instantly after starting an ambush against a healthy enemy.
-Hard countered by a common implant, darklight, which would reveal infiltrators as bright white models on a purple background. This could be toggled at-will and had a tiny stamina cost.

Now, let's see about ESO gankblades?

    Pros:

-Insane burst. With proc sets, anyone who isn't a tank will lose 50-80% of their health in the initial strike. Tanks still lose aboue 33-40%
-Strongest CC skills in the game. A cheap, spammable ult (50) that stuns and reduces healing from long range and acts as a gapcloser. As well as a fear (stun that goes through block)
-Attacking a person on a horse guarentees a two-second knockdown (stun you cannot break free of)
-Strong self-healing through siphoning skills available in-combat
-Strong self-healing through vigor available in-combat
    -Root/snare immunity from shuffle
-High damage potential with animation-canceled bow attacks, even during big fights.
-The best AoE stun in the game. (Rarely available)
-Able to disengage/engage with a low-cost ability (cloak, mistform)
-Stealth is a free ability for everyone.

    Cons:
-Cloak does not work against enemies with the detect buff. This requires a specialized potion, and prevents the person using it from using another type of potion for the duration.
-Bonus damage is significantly reduced against people running Radiant Mage-light
    -Somewhat fragile.
-Can be difficult to disengage against competent opponents.
-Can be knocked out of stealth by AoE abilities
-Needs to manage stamina while stealthed.
-Average, at best, escapes. (Sorc has the best. NB is middling. Templars and DKs have none)

When it comes down to it. Stealth ambushing in ESO is just easy compared to what I'm used to. It's facerollingly easy to do, and there are better options.

All anyone who doesn't gank sees is the split second of damage and then the death recap screen, but what they don't realize is the time and skill required to plan your attack, get just the perfect positioning, waiting for the right conditions (no other enemies in sight, or occupied in a way you are likely to not be seen), etc.

On Sunday morning I spent 45 minutes at one point in Cyrodiil hunting, waiting, planning the perfect strike. 45 minutes for one kill. It was a fun stalk.

I brought up eye of storm b/c you talked about skilled gameplay which involves counterplay. My point was that many players run eye of storm, proc sets, soul assualt, these troll tanks etc dont offer counterplay.

    but i digress.

Want a counter to the eye of storm hullabulu? Get yourself a good healbot in your group.....dk's have some good counters as well..

The nightblades strength is in ganking. That's what you do with stealth characters

I love how magblade is so *** that OP doesnt feel the need to say stamblade because lets be honest. How many people actually play magblade successfully and enjoy it.

    Probably very few

I get the same whispers, but from nightblades mostly. "Try harder c*ncer kid with detect pots".
Somehow stamsorcs thinking this is skyrim carrying a 2H are not allowed to hit as hard as nightblades do

Your going to get rage tells from people, especially when ganking. Those are the people that will send you tells though as well when you wreck them 1v1 with no ganking. Try not to take it personally, some people are just {snip} and will say what they will to try and make themselves feel better about the fact they got killed in a PVP game...
