Then people would just ask you to link achievements or they'd kick you.

Yep. It'll always be something if it's not levels. No need to go further down the drain.

I know this isn't the first time this has been suggested, but with all the problems in PuGs and GF, the time to do this is now.

Peoples nameplates should only have just their names on them, and nothing else. No level indicators, no CP, nothing.

Levels and CP shouldn't even be visible in GF, or the in group listings. For that matter, player level should not be publicly visible at all in any way shape or form, not even in Guild Rosters.

This would instantaneously change the basis for groups and the like. You really would have to hope the people you are pugging with have enough skill to do the job. There would be no way of assessing them before you do anything, unless you asked them personally. And even then, they could simply lie, and you would have no means of real validation.

This needs to happen. It would completely level the playing field, and give everyone a fair and equal shot.

I'm sympathetic; but I think energies are better placed in improving skill and earning CP. Plenty of tutorials/streamers/Youtube videos on builds and skill improvement; and lots of ways to accelerate earning CP.

Also, there will always be greedy people; who want there gaming experience in an MMO (defined by playing with others) to revolve only around themselves without working with people in a group. I've had to develop a thick skin not playing MMOs myself.

I've been playing since beta; have done most content, CP 550 or more, former Emperor. My tip, find a good guild that does dungeons and Trials; I'm in one and we don't filter based on things like low CP level. We work together and have fun. There is a section in the forums for guild recruiting; go get you sum.

The only issues i've ever had with pugs is people ditching the group, giving up after one wipe, or leaving the instance before it even starts because certain DLC maps come up.

I've had a pledge to do a DLC dungeon for almost 2 weeks because I can't get a group to stay to do it. My group last night probably went through 100 people before I said screw it and left myself because I wanted to break something.

No wants to go read on strats for bosses, no one listens when you try to explain boss fights or ask people to go watch a 4 minute video. It's so freaking frustrating. It's even worse when you don't have a guild and have no friends... I don't get accepted to groups when I say "CP 70 healer lfg for a pledge." even though I heal better than some CP 600 people.

    So yea, I agree.
Today is a blessing. Yesterday is in the past and tomorrow is a mystery.

This wont change a thing. Everyone can see at the first boss if group is good or Bad, without any cp shown.
I ran pledges the other day as healer with 12k dps. Did 50% of boss damage, and saw that literally the 2 dds had 6k dps...
You can do this as every role.

I have 733CP and this might help prevent all the friend requests I get without so much as talking to me first.

Pretty much. They think they are being discriminated because of low cp... that is not the case. Every single person i agreed to kick was kicked because they sucked at their role.

Doing enough pugs the first trash pack says it all about a group. If the dps does single target and no aoe they get kicked. If the group dies in 5 minutes they get kicked.

The problem is also that most new players go dps thinking its easy but its the hardest role. A low CP tank with enough hp and decent sets will rarely get kicked, same with a healer as they do not need to be really good, average is enough.

But a dps with low cp needs to be REALLY good to pull enough dps with that little CP... and few are.

I don't know. Knowing a person's level helps me decide how much patience I'll have for their shenanigans.

I use levels and CPs differently than most I guess. I don't care what equipment people use or what their level is AS LONG AS THEY ARE PERFORMING THEIR ROLE and not hindering my gameplay in the process.

If I notice that someone is doing a terrible job, dying a lot, taking excessive damage as dps (especially with heavy armor), doing very low damage as dps (probably because they're wearing heavy armor armor and running out of stamina/magicka constantly), not taunting as a tank, etc... THEN I look at their level.

But, I don't bother looking until I notice something is wrong though, I don't try to predict the future.

If they're a level 20 without CPs, I know that person is new to the game and this isn't their alt. So I tell them what they need to do to improve. Either providing advice about their build or fight mechanics.

Depending on how receptive they are to taking advice, I will do one of 3 things:

1- if they illustrate that they are trying to learn and get better, I'll stick around and suffer through the wipes for the sake of coaching them.

2- if they give me the "you're not my daddy you can't tell me what to do, it's muh play style!" nonsense, then I'll initiate a vote-kick (very rare that this happens, most people want to get better).

3- if the rest of the group pulls the "you're an elitist" card, they're fine with the constant wipes, so I just leave and find something else to do (even more rare).

If they're playing that bad and they have a ton of CPs, then I just assume they're either trolling or they're irredeemably bad because there is no other excuse for spending that much time with the game and not knowing what you're doing.
