Focusing on one Character, Good or Bad?

I have a toon for every class. Stam DK was my first and I love the feel of Dragonknight. I think it fits my playstyle. I've leveled toons up in every class for a bunch of situations. Now I realized I spend lots of money and crowns changing those characters around, respec'ing, regearing them and for some that works but for me I feel I am missing out on the game and was thinking about deleting my other characters except my DK and just focusing on him. My only question about that is if there are enough skill points available to be able to switch between a PVP build and a PvE build and crafting. My DK is a level 50 in Blacksmithing, Woodworking and Clothing, 7-8 traits in about everything. So that's about maybe a little over 225 skill points maybe (S&B,DW,Bow,2H,HA,MA,Fighters Guild,Alliance war, Blacksmithing, woodworking, clothing, plus most of those passives). Unless I run a tank for PvE then I could drop the medium armor, Dual wield and bow trees. I just don't know if this will be a bad decision or not.

EDIT: Ok, thanks everyone for the feedback. So I've decided I'll probably keep one Stamina Character and one Magicka Character. So I'll be keeping my StamDK and either my Magicka Templar or my Magicka Sorcerer.

End game characters should have near or over 300 skill points. That's enough for all three class skill lines, mages or fighter's guild, Alliance War, two weapon lines, two armor lines, racial passives ... and all six (6) crafting skill lines.

It's certainly more convenient to have crafting on one character ... especially when learning motifs.

My main crafter had 294 skill points and still does vMA.

I wouldnt recommend deleting your alts, for now you can just use them as extra bank slots or something. :) Simply because grinding and leveling up your horse is very boring, and one day you might want to play another class.
But focusing on just 1 char is certainly possible! There's a ton of skill points, especially if you have dlcs.

I've only ever played one character. Only thing I never did is grind gear every meta. But xp and cp were never an issue.

I'm in the same mindset, I main my MagSorc but have another 5 Alts all max levelled I find I spend more time trying to gear them all out and less time playing and doing what I want, I often think should I just delete my alts and focus on 1 or 2

I have many alts in all MMO I played, but usually it is only 2-3 toons I am actively playing and gearing. All others are mules, crafters, stand bys. I sometimes change who I am playing on because I want to try some interesting build, sometimes use them if I want to grind something fast (got all I wanted from n

With the way ZOS does balance, I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket. StamDK has been relatively consistent in performance in PvP and PvE, but any patch now, it could take a hit and become the current stamplar or magnb. What I mean is, it could become that class that is so bad in PvE, nobody wants you in their group.

I think this is why it's nice to have alts, though I do tend to favor one class myself, magplar, after all this time.

I have 11 characters: different races and different skills and different factions. (Except Bosmer. Just don't like them.) Generally take turns in playing them all (some still not level 50 yet) as makes the game more diverse.

But do have a tendancy to keep returning to my first, my Khajiit stamblade. He's not necessarily the best, but he is my favourite.

So I would keep alts as they can add a different dimension to the game.

DON'T delete your characters. I've made that mistake several times before and then regretted it cause then I had to go through the leveling/questing process all over again. If you've already spent time and effort into your characters, don't get rid of them. It's okay to focus on just one, that's what you'd call your Main, but it's also good to keep the others around just in case you feel like playing differently for a time.

I have leveled up a character for every class before deleting all but one.

there are a couple of reasons for this:

-wanted to know what class suits me

-wanted to know how the other classes actually play from a competitive point of view, most people say something is OP even though they don't play it, I like knowing what everything was actually capable of and how to combat it effectively

-certain skill lines and game concepts favor having only one character. motifs learned, alliance war progression (huge one) undaunted to a lesser extent, traits learned (huge one)

-you do get enough skill points to get everything you want, even if you are a crafter, and if you need more there are specific skills that are only convenience that you can skip. if you don't craft, then yeah you can get everything.

In the end I wanted to focus on one character that was my character, to focus on understanding it in depth so that I know exactly what I can and cannot do, so that skill use would become muscle memory and combat second nature.

If you have only one character you will at times have regrets, and if you have many characters you will at time also have regrets, neither one is is better or worse then the other.

    game got too disappointing.

I focus on one character only with achievements and general progress in trials and dps. I do use multiple chars in farming situations, like writs, pledges etc.

Advice from someone sitting on millions of gold. Stick with one character. Creating several characters will make you go broke. Focusing on one is less expensive.

As far as skill points, I have enough skill points to for majority of my skills (the ones I use) in PvP/PvE + maxed out both blacksmithing and clothing.

I think you're good :) stay with one character!

I tend to concentrate on just one character but have several. If I feel I am getting in a rut with my main I will hop on one of the others and just goof off for a while. Comes in handy having more than one character for special events like we just had. I wanted the recipes for my provisioner and being able to run the dailies on more than one character meant I got them fairly quick.
Also comes in handy when the guild is getting a group together for trials or something I can do any roll just by switching characters. If we are going to do multiple AA runs I can also switch characters so each gets the drop at the end.

You don't have to play them but you should keep them. As someone else said if you do nothing else with them at least they can hold all your goodies.

I have 4 mains, one for each class and in all 3 alliances. I also spread the crafting professions across 3 of the 4.
Started all 4 of them right around PC launch and still play them on a regular basis.

It's a bit more expensive in the beginning but it hasn't really impacted me in a long time. Works for me ...

I personally prefer to find my favorite kind of character, and then only play and focus on them. Especially in this particular game.

I find it much more enjoyable, and it also saves me a ton of grinding, time, and money. (since I like to not just level a character, I like them to be viable as well)

I just don't find the repetitive grind at all fun. Especially when it isn't on my favorite character I enjoy playing the most. :)

I only have one character, I'd rather focus everything on one than spend time on others, I know my preferred playstyle to know which character I like the best. I have all the crafting skills maxed and, following the last respec where I didn't spend points on skills I wasn't using, I have 16 skill points left over. I still have several skills I use only occasionally too.

I have 3 that I use. One primarily PvE and maxed out, gots the crafting, achievements, etc... the others are primarily PvP.

This way I save when wanting things done, save on respecs (I have a PvE sorc and a PvP sorc for example)

Allows me to do daily quests (let's say I need a shoulder, can get 9 keys in one day.)

I orginally focused on one till he was maxed

I've got my main mag sorc with all but the remaining Alliance Rank skillpoints with a DC duplicate I used to spar with friends in the times before v16 Cadwell's Gold zones and duelling. I also have a Nightblade I made out of curiosity because it was the class I was originally going to pick when I first started, but thought the medium Argonian armor in the character preview was an inevitable appearance, and didn't like how it looked at the time.

Same deal with the heavy Argonian helmet/crown on Templar and Dragonknight.

I have many characters, but only 1 that I focus on. I do all of the quests on her and only her, everyone else I bare minimum. She has all of the crafting maxed and has enough points to have everything else I want on her. Which seems to be a good idea with the way housing is coming out. I would not delete your other characters. Trust me on this. I cannot tell you the number of times I have rerolled specific builds because I deleted them and later changed my mind yet again. And for as much as I love this game, I no longer enjoy leveling characters in any fashion.

I've only ever played one toon, and it's always been a DK (changed platforms thrice).
I had tried to create an alt, but never got the hang of it. I felt that I was spending more time worrying about my alt's progress, than any other aspect of the game. Also, I got tired of doing the same quests, all over again. And skyshards-, and lorebooks hunting.

So I stuck with just one, and this is what works best for me. Sticking with one class also helped me learn that class. Of course, there are many players who are talented altoholics and do not experience that qualms that I do, for the mere fact that creating and progressing alts is an aspect they enjoy, greatly.

I've tried countless times to maintain alts, only to delete them, not long after their creation.
