What do you think are the best sets on the market right now for that build?

I'm looking into runnig 5+5+1

Untitled.jpg

Which class will fit best for this role in your opinion? I'm rotating Temp-Sorc-DK in my head thinking Templar can become realy good for vMA on this build.

Yea, I bought Blessed Sharpened Ice staff for 3k today. So I imagine the price will be very different after the update.

Indead of Blessed armor i'd take Shalks Exoskeleton (5), Shadow Dancer or Amber Plasm (5) and Mighty Chudan (1)

merida blessed armor’s fifth piece bonus does not work on bosses. it only works on trash mobs.

Not defensive? Thought you wanted a tank. Even though Ice staff is getting some damage reduction, block cost reduction, a taunt, and maim it still is significantly less than shield and sword.

I'd say first try Might Chudan (2), Desert Rose (5), and Wisdom (3) and if you are feeling confident about maintaining your magicka switch Desert Rose with Vampire Cloak (5).

The downside to staff tanking will be missing out on an additional item that provides extra armor, another armor trait, and an additional piece for set bonuses. That being said new ice staff changes should provide for some interesting builds in many areas of the game.

If we are going to even CONSIDER the possibility of Frost Tanking we need to be realistic.

I can honestly only see NBs being decent at Frost Tanking, and I use the term decent as in the only one of the classes to successfully pull off this facade. They can use Piercing Mark in place of Pierce Armor for the Major Fracture/Breech, have a more reliable method of Maim thru Shades (on top of all the extra bonuses via Shadow passives), can be resource juggernauts with SA (especially when coupled with something like Desert Rose), and Heroism isn't necessary when Soul Harvest and Transfer passive can easily fill up your Ultimate for Warhorn usage (Just be careful during bar swapping for the Warhorn Bar)

The biggest loss is that of an extra set bonus, either from a 5 piece or monster set, as well as the added resistances, enchantment and trait bonuses a shield would offer. This alone kills Frost Tanking for me overall but I guess it can be useful for a back bar set up on a tank, if nothing else.

I started a Nord DK under this plan just recently. Storm Knight's Plate and Thunderbug's Carapace.

Basically Frost Staff, Dragonknight spells and armor sets amount to all sorts of going elemental damage types.

Good? Maybe, probably not. Awesome? It better be.

Meridia won't work on bosses, and each proc of it only applies to a single target, so for trash mobs it's not very good. Try replacing it with something like Black Rose, or something like heavy Kagrenac's.

Pirate Skeleton Set - This set was meant for a tank BUT there are several problems with it which includes getting stuck in skeleton form, unable to use any skills during transformation, block getting dropped. So until these problems gets fixed, avoid it.

Meridia's Blessed doesn't work against bosses.

Black Rose looks nice but with 10% chance its better wear this against trash mobs.

Here is a build that i have been working on

May Blessed set be useful in PvP? Got the idea from your reply's it's not worth it for PvE at all.

Only because of Major Fracture I'm actually thinking it will be good to have one handed and shield as second weapon. I do actually expect to see alot of people using Ice staves and sword+shield alot.

Back bar 1hand/shield, apply pierce armour, then switch to main bar with froststaff again. Repeat every 12 seconds. That way it could work. I still don't think that stafftanking will be really useful.

sadly they had made a huge increase in the cost of casting Funnel Health/Swallow Soul, so the ulti generation will be reduced just down to not being able to cast as many in U13
