Does the new ancient knowledge passive increase lightning staff heavy attack ticks?

Can someone test this for me? I'm downloading the pts, but it takes forever...

Does it affect the damage to the initial target or only the splash damage?

My only problem is this, is the fact it will make it less fun for me as I like the attack speed better for aesthetics.

Yeah but the damage would be even better with the new passive. Still hoping that someone can test this

The new lightning staff increases the damage of your aoe abilities.
Lightning heavy attacks are not considers single target abilities, you can actually test that.

They count as AoEs even vs single targets. So yes, each tick will profit from this passive.

Overall dps should remain about the same though, because the heavy attacks take longer to complete, right?

It will be more overall, depending on how much AoE you use. I do 30-35k with around 50% Lightning Heavies and 50% AoE skills, so it will all be buffed be the new passive. Will all be crappy though if the sets like Aether were killed by making it only work on the final tick of heavy attacks, which is why I'd like that tested.
