A good compromise would be to have two versions of the achievement window that you can switch between: "account-wide" and "this character". Looking at the account-wide window would show you all of the achievements that you've earned across your entire account, with the names of each character that has a particular achievement listed beside that achievement. Looking at the "this character" window would show you something more like what you see now. Since many achievements (like those tied to dyes) already function on an account-wide level anyway, as far as benefits are concerned, doing things this way, achievements could continue to be tied to individual characters, but would also effectively be account wide.
This doesn't address titles, of course. My own personal view is that titles should remain specific to individual characters, but that's just me.

I admit I'm missing the point of all these "shared" whatnot.
If it's chess, it's Player, not piece.
This is a MMORPG, so it's an MMO that uses characters, not teams or "players".
Along with achievements I'd also like to add recipes and traits research.

The character did not earn it you did. If achievements were account wide by default not one person would be making threads on the forums for character based achievements of this I am certain because you would have no reason to question it because it is non-conflicting and logical.

The elk only applies to one character? Wow...

I'm sorry but that's not how this game works.
The main point (for some people, at least) is that it isn't necessarily that we don't want to do something, it's that we don't want to do it multiple times. The argument is that someone shouldn't be barred from something just because they did it on a different character.
But, I can totally see how something cosmetic like titles should be shared.

Or the cosmetic skins, mementos, pets, etc. that your dunmer also earned, but the child still has access.
