Loot Crate and Imperial Edition Thoughts

    What's a loot crate? - Crown crate?????

It's a service. You pay and they send out monthly random grab bags of stuff. I want to say it's a subscription service, but I don't remember.

Each month it varies, though the contents are non-random. Loot Crate chooses what they stick in each month's package. December's included some ESO goodies, including a code for the Imperial Edition upgrade.

Its a company/service that you pay money to either monthly or on an as wanted basis and they sent you goods and products.

According to the Terms of Service:
Virtual Currency is not transferable to, or redeemable for, any sum of real currency or monetary value from ZeniMax or any other person at any time. ZeniMax prohibits, and does not recognize any purported, transfers, sales, gifts, or trades of Virtual Currency. Virtual Currency will only be used by You to obtain virtual goods within a Game (e.g., durable goods that become part of Your inventory in the Game and consumable or single use items that are used and expire after use within the Game) or other Downloadable Content, through one or more Services, as determined by ZeniMax in its sole discretion. You agree not to sell or transfer, or assist others in selling or transferring Virtual Currencies or any amounts thereof. Evidence of any attempt to use, sell or transfer Virtual Currency in any manner that violates these Terms of Service may result in revocation, termination, or cancellation of the Virtual Currency and/or Your use of the Services without refund and/or immediate suspension or termination of Your Account.

Okay, no offense @ZOS_DaryaK, but that could be read either way in this context. It depends on if you read the code itself as the item being traded (which would be a TOS violation, since it doesn't fit within the range of items allowed), or if the code is a proxy for the pet (which wouldn't be a TOS violation, since it is an item that becomes part of your inventory).

Except... it doesn't. It becomes part of your collection. Which is probably an irrelevant distinction, but could be the line between being acceptable under the TOS or being a bannable offense.

It gets more confusing because two years ago, if the code is a proxy, there wouldn't have been any question. The pets went into your inventory as durable items. But, now, they no longer do so.

You can google it and go to their website but it's really neat actually. I think it's like maybe 20 bucks a month (my wife does all that stuff so I can't give an exact number). You get a figurine, T shirt, key chain, journal etc.

There's a link to some of the figurines you get. I have them sitting on the top part of my comp desk. My kids play with em for a lil bit and then they sit up there. They're really neat. Each month has a "theme" and they try to stay with that theme.

    After that who cares?
They're a mile away and you've got their shoes.

Back at launch, that horse was incredibly useful. It cut 17k off your costs for each character.

The Imperial Edition was never exclusive or special, beyond the enjoyment and utility people got from having it.

ZOS were selling the upgrade on the website right up until it went into the crown store, so anyone could get it at any time.

I bought the game a year after it was released (just after they announced they were dropping the subscription) for about 1/2 what it cost originally and I got the Imperial Edition and pre-order bonuses.
