Can you get to Coldharbour through any alliance?

Hi,

I made a new character on DC, but can I get to Coldharbour by going through all the content in EP?

I know I need to do Fighter's Guild and Mage's Guild quest lines and Main Story Harborage Quest lines in DC area, but can I progress my character through EP lands and still get to Coldharbour?

To get to Coldharbour through the story route:
    • Fighters Guild and Mages Guild quest lines are not and have never been required to unlock Coldharbour.
    • You must complete EITHER the Main Story (Harborage) quest line, up to Council of the Five Companions, OR your own alliance's final zone's final quest.
So no, you can't get to Coldharbour by doing the EP quests as a DC character, but if you're going to do the Harborage line anyway, you don't need to do any alliance storyline.

I don't believe so. I think you need to finish your home factions main story to get there if going through the quest route.

I'm not sure. I know you can physically get to Cold Harbour if you port there via your contacts list or guild rosters. But, I have no idea if you can get there "naturally" following another faction's story.

The easy way to check would be trying to get into Cold Harbour from the EP, because you can go straight to Trollhetta, finish the final boss fight, and get access to the final quest.

Actually, now I'm really curious how the other Alliance leaders respond to you, given you've probably been working directly for them by this point. (They probably don't have dialog for this, because getting those three actors back for something most people wouldn't see, isn't happening.)

You won't receive Messages Across Tamriel from anyone other than your alliance leader. So you'll need to complete all of Bangkorai's almanac quests for DC, all of the Reaper's March almanac quests for AD, and just Trollhetta for EP to skip ahead solo. It's a strange imbalance.

But there's no hard barrier for Coldharbour. You can travel to a player in your guild at any time.

No other questline actually prevents Coldharbour. You certainly don't need to do any DC area questlines. If you want to get to Coldharbour naturally by yourself, i suggest you push trough the guild quests. You can use the new Navigators to fast travel between DC areas to find the guild quests. Finishing both should trigger the Stirk island quest which moves you in lore-friendly way to Coldharbour.

You can in fact skip everything - even guild quests. You only need "travel to player" to somebody in Coldharbour. Once you get into the Hollow City, go to SE gate and you should see the Groundkeeper. Talk to her to start the area questline.

... and then, of course, there's the port to a guild mate in Coldharbour method... I saw many level 6 or 7 players last time I was there and no, they weren't alchemy reagent farmer bots.

It has been a long time since I did the Main Story (like, 2+ years) but I seem to recall receiving the Coldharbour quest automatically when I reached a certain level, I think Level 45. I am DC and definitely don't think I had finished the DC storyline. The Mages Guild guy just popped up, similar to the Prophet, when I was near a town and gave me the quest. I recall actually being quite confused about what was going on, where the quest came from, how I could get to Coldharbour, etc.

You get to coldharbor as part of the main quest. I've seen people there as early as level 13 after one Tamriel.

It's no longer that way I don't think. But since 1T you can chug the main quest line one right after the other and when you get through those you get the gather all alliance leaders prequel to Coldharbour quest.

Right, as a DC player before One Tamriel, you could either complete Council of the Five Companions and then reach Level 45, or complete To Walk on Far Shores at any level. Now, after One Tamriel, you can complete Council of the Five Companions at any level, or complete To Walk on Far Shores at any level.

Can confirm. No quests other than the main storyline (Prophet at Harborage) needed. No level requirements since 1T, finishing one leads to the next. Job can be done easily on day one if that's your goal.

Wish they kept the level requirements or the need to finish one alliance story line at least. Feels so weightless now.

Agreed. I know the whole 'level isn't a barrier any more' was the goal for One Tamriel, but it doesn't help the Main Quest at all. There's nothing behind the Prophet's "I need to spend time doing X" dialogues any more because as soon as you leave the Harborage he pops up again straight away. Considering the Main Quest is solo anyway, there wouldn't really be any drawbacks to keeping that tied to character level.

Slightly off topic but does anyone know what opens other Alliances' Harborage locations as a locale that you can recall to?

Some of my characters can enter other Alliances' Harborages, some of them can't.

I think between Updates 9 and 12 you could enter other alliances' Harborages, which would unlock them on the map, but since One Tamriel that's no longer possible.
