holiday price gouging

So I was running the betnik event the other day,and there was a guy selling the twice spiked ale for 10k a drink!!! And people selling the recipe for 40-50k!!! I get it everyone wants too make gold but why try too gouge people on this event. Some people dont have hours too get al the stuff as they have lives outside eso,why try ripping people off? And before any jumps on me,yes I get I you don't have too pay for it at those prices but thats not the point in trying too make here. In the case with the guy selling drinks for 10k, there was another player selling them for 250 gold. I decided screw this guys 10k... I paid the kid selling at 250 200 thousand gold too give them out for free. And he held up too the deal. All in all I just don't get why people have too take advantage of others. 250 gold is a fair price considering its costing you resources too craft them but 10k,really. Any thoughts on this

You said it yourself.....no one has to at those prices. When I see items for exorbitant prices in chat, I want to yell at the poster to get real. But they have the right to do it. It's on the players not to buy for inflated prices. As the saying goes, a fool and his money are soon parted. Why do you care?

Ive got the achievement and didn't sell a thing to get it. I just made swap deals with people in the area. With the surplus of green and blue recipes afterwards I've been selling them on the cheap in the guildstores just to get rid of them. Don't let people have your eyeballs out with any of them. I've seen some other very generous people around the quest sites giving away free drinks just to help others get the achievement. Keep an eye out for these people and ignore the extortionists.

Again I agree its up too players too decide. It just seems like a *** move on the sellers part. I guess this is a micro chasm of a larger issue but I figure as a community we should help each other, and still make a profit of course. Just not try screwing people over. I'm in 3 large trade guilds and easily make 200k-500k a week while selling at fair prices. Lets not zos it up and over inflate crap lol.(there's my zos bash for today).having a good community will only benefit the game and thusly benefit all of us in return.

Yes thats exactly my point is players helping players. This is how it should be. Its an event that everyone should have fun doing. In the end I guess its just me feeling like the in game community is at times too toxic. I've been playing since day one on the x1 and id have millions upon millions of gold stacked up if I didn't give it away so often. But what do I need 20 million gold in the bank for? As of now i could buy all the mats and armor I need too have all my character's decked out in high end gold gear and have plenty left over for housing and beyond. But again I prefer too help other players out. Especially new players. Al I can say is as a community we should not gouge each other but help each others. The more players that join the game and stay for a good community the stronger te game will be for us all.

Just an example of how I do guild sales. A player was selling embroidery for 10k a stack (200). I bought them all up and split them into stacks of 30 and sold them for 5k each. It comes too roughly 166 gold per embroidery when they where selling at most guild traders for 250g each. I made a profit while still giving other players a really good deal. And i make a tone of gold doing things this way.

well that is kind of you to do :) , but the Reality is not everyone will do that. people in the end will still price an item they have for the value they want to receive for it. Some will sell at a price prevalent in the market place and others will sell a bit higher and then you have the rare bread that sell really really low & those who sell really really high. That is what makes the market interesting & some people play ESO just for the economy buying and selling :p

Funny, I have been running this daily on four characters and every time I go to Betnik somebody is the offering free Twice Spiked to anyone that wanted it. Sometime multiple people. Thought it was awesome to see some of the old giving spirit, more in the time to sit there than the material cost.

I'm guilty of being imatient and buying stuff. Bought the max stam and stam recovery recipe for 25k last night because I wanted to put a build together there and then.

Unfortunately people like me with more money than patience probably ruin it for others :(

Everyone has a right to do what they want. If someone wants to sell it for 10k per drink then they can, doesn't mean they shouldn't because it's exorbitant pricing. A fool and their money are easily parted as the saying goes, and most will wait or find it themselves for a fraction of the price if not for free.

I offered ppl to sell them ale for 600 000 gold. And recipe for 200 gold. I might overpriced my crafting skill a bit, since I sold like 10 recipes in 20 minutes, but not a single mug of ale...

Those drinks are selling in most guilds for 200g for 2 on PS4 EU. Don't get me wrong there are some people who are attempting to gouge people, but it's easy enough to find them. I've sold a number for 50g per drink.

Play the way you want man. It will be all on you too waste your time over charging for crap, and selling nothing. A smart person knows that your gonna sell more at lower prices.and ultimately make more.selling larger quantities. But not everyone has good business sense

I've never ever seen someone selling the Twice Spiked Ale (drink) for gold; I have however seen multiple people giving away the drink. I've gotten quite a bit for free to use just for the achievement.

Let people know that you don't need it for the achievement.

I literally just got it on a character without drinking it.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I do that, and a few others. The first time I went a guy was trying sell the drinks, so I made 100 of them and put in chat that they were free. Dude was pissed but oh well. Some people still tipped anyway, but yeah I've been trading out rec motifs and boxes since the start.

Well it probably is. He'll tell his guild mates he sold it for 25k so that will be their benchmark.

But money is there to be spent. So if I want something, I'll buy it. Ironically, I make my money by undercutting people. I'll sell alloys, rosin and wax for 1k less then everyone else for instance. People charging 500k for sharpened weapons, I'll charge 400k. My stuff always sells, so I always got money ready to go.

If they are advertising at that then people are paying it probably. When players now have millions of gold with no other gold sink anymore they can pay these prices.
