Timely post, just happened to me an hour ago at the last boss in a dungeon.
Buff up, throw down AOE, jump in to start pummeling the boss, drop ultimate and boom goes the rat in the corner ...
PS: At least the rat didn't suffer, it was a quick death.
Reminds me of the (bugged) level 50 rabbits on Bleakrock Isle during one of the early beta sessions. You probably have enough DPS to one shot the rat in the corner.
The frog I hit took the meteor then I had to weave on him for a while. My execute was just about to kill him when someone went over and stepped on it. Then I got kicked out of the PUG for not DPS'ing the boss. I said I thought the frog was an add. And I thought it was a poison arrow frog that had enough venom in it to kill 1000 men, so it surely was the priority target.

Unless you specifically target a mob, you will auto target the closest mob with the highest % of health. That means, if you are fighting a monster with a starting health of 100K and have it down to 50K it is at 50%, then a rat with 10 health runs by it is at 100%, you will auto target that rat.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCY5h4hmk4IWhy after all this time are these creepy crawlies priority targets? I'm wailing away on a boss, then go for the meteor drop only to have it hit the tiny spider 10 feet behind him.
I mean.. sure, there is tab targeting, but why on earth would the auto targeting switch from target you are constantly attacking to a frog or spider or rat (or whatever)?
Anyway, it's pointless to bring it up... been a problem since the beginning. Just venting after wasting an ultimate for the millionth time..
