Are you getting enough surveys to replace the materials you spend? Maybe it's my bad RNG, then.

I have noticed a fairly large decrease in number of surveys I am getting. Maybe my luck just changed, that's the thing about rng it is hard to tell whether they lowered drop chance or you are just having bad luck.

At One Tamriel, they halved the drop rates of Surveys, doubled the yield of Surveys, and spread them all throughout the game. I think this is pretty solid evidence that whoever was in charge of updating writs was on PCP at the time.

I think it's because the devs want most of us to use more of the zones. I mean, did anyone ever have any need or desire to return to most of the low level zones? They obviously began that process with the new sets that drop within specific zones. It's why they introduced more set drops, give us random surveys, did what they did with the current festival, the new dailies and so on. They want more players out of Mournhold, Grahtwood etc and more people using the actual zones, especially zones that are considered meh.
I can only speak for myself, but I can't remember the last time I even visited the likes of Eastmarch before this festival began or 1T.
