Are you all maybe doing a bit of zoning? Maybe something about the asset loading change and people zoning is going on, like your client gets bogged down.

I always relog after doing the craft mail run to clear my game out, might be like that with zoning except worse after the changes they made.

Majority of players are hitting a problem at this point in the path to the game server.

Routers and servers beyond that point simply don't respond to pings. This is to keep stress down and protect against DDoS attacks.

NA/PC connecting from East Coast Australia. Was fine for me for most of my day until about 11PM US EST time. I was in CoS normal with my regular Wed evening (US time) group. About the second bos it all started going haywire - huge ping spikes, several disconnects - it was totally unplayable.

Logged in a couple of hours later and so far it's been ok for about an hour o play.

I was playing fine after today's (14th Dec) maintenance. It appeared to be fixed and even Improved. Instead of 120-150 latency it was 80-90. Played really well.

Until the evening then it jumped to 400-900 before siting above 999+.

My theory is the megaserver can't handle the load of players. The recent major update brought alot of us players back. With the housing update announced, I'm sure it brought even more. Steam Sales also played a big role as well.

They'll need to do one of two things:

    1. Add more clusters to the NA/PC (possibly the PS4 one as well) to handle the new loads.
    2. Or let it ride and let the population drop itself down and pray that the paying members aren't the ones leaving.

I think it might be time to introduce login queues. Giving plus members priority as other F2P games do. Cause I really doubt they wish to add hardware for a population bubble that might be temporary.

I totally agree. The servers have always been the problem. They cannot handle the load. Now the overload problem has moved into the PvE environment. High ping, lag, constant load screens, crashing, rubber banding, freezing have always been a problem during PvP Primetime when all factions were pop locked. The PvP problem has been going on for over two years now. I also think what ever ZOS did on Monday when their maintenance was plus 10 hours was also a factor.

Of course I am sure not every player is experiencing problems. It depends on where you are in the game and how many players are in that area which again boils down to the load.

If that were the case, we would have seen these problems during the huge spike in players during the free weekend, not now. No, these problems started with the patch this week. It has something to do with that.

I did see high pings during that weekend.

I know because I was still leveling a character and saw the increased pop in those areas.

Saw a similar post yesterday, and because the game has been fine for me I posted saying so... But ironicly last night, in Darkshade II. At the Netch boss I got +999 latency, I could move my character but everything else was frozen!? when it came back to normal (eventually) the grp was waiting for me revive after a wipe... Was then mercilessly hit with a round of WTF Healer!!! LoL

I had unplayable ping last night on PC-NA in Hew's Bane, but when I went to the True Flame campaign for Cyrodiil it was fine.

I recall someone mentioning a certain AT&T router that may be the cause of all our woes. Whatever hop after ggr3.dlstx.ip.att.net could be modifying or snipping packets and of course not routing properly. This could all be a matter of just rerouting traffic or calling up AT&T.

Of course ZOS using TCP for their network code doesn't help unless they did a spot on job at it. With mechanics needing to be timed perfectly it is a wonder they didn't create their own network code using UDP.

What do I know, I'm just a mushroom living under a rock.

Lag was mostly fine last night, but I got a few high ping rates of up to 999+. It got really bad right before I logged off around 11 pm EST. 999+ ping for over 5 minutes. Had to relog to fix it; then it happened again.

Ping was fine in TS at 45 and when I logged over to WoW it was around 61. So I have no idea what is going on except it's not my connection.

Hopefully we get some maintenance today to fix the issue.

There was problems during the free weekend and ZOS needs to hold off on their Christmas special content until they get a handle on what is causing all the issues since Mondays Maintenance. No matter what folks think ZOS's servers are having problems.

    WTF.gif

    - Was fine BEFORE last maintenance
    - Problem started AFTER last maintenance
    - No ATT at my house or anywhere on the hops between my router and the ZOS server(s)

Blaming this on ATT is just as stupid as blaming low FPS in ESO on your graphics card.
