Housing? A Losing proposition

Hooray, housing is coming! Don't hold your breath or you might not get the proper send-off from your hopes and aspirations.

If you notice Zenimax carefully omitted from their hype any allusions to what players really want, storage. With the advent of all the new armor sets, including monster sets as well, Zenimax has made inventory control an urgent issue. Yes there are hoarders, I am unashamedly one of them, but when trying to accumulate a set with desirable traits and of the desired weight (light, medium or heavy) inventory management is a chore.

I had hoped that Zenimax would have addressed this lack of inventory space withe advent of housing. They have studiously avoided such pipe-dreams in the hype.

I'll take their free house and play with it. I will not spend in-game gold or crowns for aesthetic, non-funtional dross. Eww, so I can bring a visitor to see my pretty house Zenimax suckered me into! Big deal!!!

Perhaps once they bring something worthwhile to housing my opinion might change. Till then I'll keep my gold and my crowns safely hidden away.

    Would be nice with storage.

Still like housing, though, and I will enjoy decorating and collecting different houses throughout Tamriel :)

As a roleplayer I already plan on buying all the houses with ingame gold. I have so many ideas in my head, from simple things like Taverns to more extravagant things like a small Deadric realm for RP events.

as i posted on a identical themed thread (cough cough), i think they should add guards that cost 1m gold to purchase, they come in one of the 4 classes, you gear them, choose skills ect. the guards skills must be lvled though to use morphs and they gain this xp from killing players in your houses with bountys. fun fun. and you get the money from those bounties.

Storage for gear would be great (I like to keep gear to pass onto alts as I raise them, would be handy to have it all in one place), but housing is going to be fun anyway. Also useful for quick teleports to all the trading hubs.

I am going to spend time decorating my house, but I am not going to get too invested in the housing system for my personal use.

My guild would like me to set one up as a guild hall with a test dummy and all, so I will be doing that for them.

Housing is one of the things I missed in ESO after playing Skyrim. The shame of Skyrim was the decoration limitation. In my opinion, I don't care if I can store my stuff or not. Sure, it would be nice, but I play with friends, and if we don't feel like doing anything, we're just hanging out, doing random stuff like attacking an invincible guard and see who dies first. A house would be a great thing to show of with, or have a party for "lol-ing", or interacting with your furniture.
A place for all the lovely RP things you should probably not do in front of Almalexia or Queen Ayrenn.

Short version: Housing is fully optional. Don't like it? Then don't get involved and don't ruin it for others. A player doesn't need to color his equipment either, but does that mean you're allowed to complain when he wears bright pink armor?

They exceeded my expectations with the housing, storage wasn't in my expectations. I have enough storage
Space now and that is including my gear hoarding.

I hope that what you built can be somehow "stored", since you will be gathering a lot of decorations through dungeons, etc.
I mean 2000 pieces. Where do we store that?!??

I think from what we saw today.....it's just decorations. Nothing is usable so it's a RP players dream for changing and staging interactions but nothing more

Some of the larger outdoor homes seem to offer interactables like crafting stations, assistants and even a skeleton to kill but what's funny is that's not really a target dummy cause it has to be cast or summoned.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding but it looked to me like he killed it and it came back to life. Not that he had to interact to summon it. If you can set its stats does it really matter? You could set it to something super high that you'll never one shot.

Also it's assuming to think the skeleton is the only practice dummy, especially when there are tons of actual ones in training yards just ready to be a copy-pasta asset.

TLDR: We don't really know anything about the target dummy situation yet.

I'm alright as long as I can pop my banking assistant in there which seems to be the case. Whatever saves me from a crowd of people swarmed around a single Bank teller in a city.

I think I'm as surprised as most that housing is lacking storage; however, ZOS has committed to quarterly DLC releases and to date they have done a great job. I have every reason to believe I will be happy when Homestead is released; for free to boot. Does this mean I don't want more storage or storage in housing? Hardly. I actually expect housing to at some point have store options. But again, a quarterly DLC release window means they can only do so much.

Studiously avoided it? Or they just didn't talk about features that they are not implementing? Of course they didn't spend time taking about things that aren't putting into the game, why would they? Really think about that, you want them to waste time talking about features they are not implementing.

Btw I could honestly care less whether houses have storage. Would it be nice? Sure, but I am happy with whatever, if I wasn't enjoying the game I wouldn't play.

I think the dps test dummy is probably equally wanted, so they are covering things players really want. Just not everything that everybody wants, well because that would be impossible.

This again housing is about... housing and decorating it why would they add it to houses. If they wanted to add more storage they would add more to the bank if they wanted but they didn't. :|
