Optimising Heavy/Light Attack build on a StamDK

As the title states, any way(s) to make LA & HA stronger as my main DPS? I know this is not going to be completely viable in PvP so this char is going to focus mainly on PvE with a little less frequent (not occasional) bouts in PvP, just to spite me. Please note that this is the preliminary plan for my stamDK so once I hit CP lvls, I'll be optimising the build to its fullest with CP160 gearsets etc., so please give inputs with the assumption that my lvl 15 DK is a CP160+ char.

Currently, my fully-charged HA (fHA for simpilicity) is much more powerful compared to the usual dmg ratio of LA:fHA. With this in mind, I don't need super high mag/stam regens (looking for moderate health regen if possible) as I'll be using class/weapon abilities for utility, vigour, CCs and counter-CCs. Plus, I'll be getting stam by means of HA and DK passives.

Passives, stats & CP distribution specialised for LA/fHA:
    % bonuses
    [*] Blade expert CP - +20.1% LA & fHA
    [*] Mighty CP - +20.1% LA & fHA
    [*] Elegant set - +20% LA & fHA
    [*] Molten armaments - +40% fHA

    Stats: Lvl 15 stamDK
    [*] 1.7k WD
    [*] 17k stam

    Others
[*] Mundus: Lady (will opt for shadow once I get it, please advise on this)

Damage outputs (regular enemy NPCs, SnB/DW)
[*] fHA from sneak: 45k/42k (higher lvl-ed SnB vs. DW daggers)
    [*] Regular fHA: 12k/11k
[*] LA from sneak: *To be updated*
[*] Regular LA: *To be updated* (iirc, dmg: 3.2k, 4.5k crit/2.9k, 3.9k crit)

That being said, let the flow of ideas commence!

Have magelight to empower it. Also elegant? Not sure that'll work well on stam dk, alchemist will offer more punch I'm sure.

      What about this set?

Using it would make you a HA/LA machine

Might be worth trying elegance + sergeant's mail. I actually think you might be right about elegance working, 20% is a pretty significant bonus for a single large attack.

These are all very powerful Light/Heavy attack oriented sets for a stamina playstyle; http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Poisonous+Serpent (Procs frequently off LA/HA's, assuming you're also using a Poison DoT such as Venomous Claw or Poison Injection)

http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Storm+Master+Set (Empowers LA after fully charged HA crits, quite nice)

http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Twice-Fanged+Serpent+Set (Stacks quickly and will be managed well with continuous LA/HA, increasing damage of all physical penetration attacks)

http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Molag+Kena+Set (2 piece, resources shouldn't be hard to manage if you're primarily dealing LA/HA damage)

http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Spawn+of+Mephala+Set (2 piece, fantastic option if you prefer the fully charged HA route, which synergizes amazingly with Molten Arma)

http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Sunderflame+Set (More meta approach, one of the strongest Stamina group sets in the game. Fits well with fully charged HA's and the armor shred can be benefited by all people hitting the target you've applied it to)

I'd highly suggest staying away from Elegance as a Stamina build, as you're going to sacrifice a lot of damage potential from useless stats. You might hit harder per LA/HA but you'll lose so much damage in the long run (crit, other damage abilities, etc) that it's not worth it.

You'll also want to either go with Dual Wield or 2 Handed, as those have the strongest LA/HA damage outputs for a stamina build. Dual Wield allows for two 5 piece bonuses AND a Monster set, while 2H removes that ability, but has slightly higher raw LA/HA damage. Dual Wield will do more DPS however, as the passives synergize better into damage (10% crit from dual daggers is unparalleled DPS output)

You'll still cap out DPS very quickly and won't be able to participate in the harder end game content like Veteran Trials or Hardmodes, but 4 man content is pretty accessible by any build. Just know that a lot of people won't be too keen on what you're doing.

2h Maul. There is an undaunted set that gives you a bonus to them when you cast a stam abillity that it boosts ha damage too. Don't use sergeant mail either. Jewlery is all healthy and heavy armor, looses damage on them. Elegant you'll lose too much stam too. Probably want the undaunted set and something like drugar hulk.

      You're referring to Undaunted Unweaver:

(2 items) Adds 967 Max Stamina
(3 items) Adds 967 Max Stamina
(4 items) Adds 688 Spell Critical
(5 items) When you use an ability that costs Stamina, your Light Attacks deal an additional 774 damage and Heavy Attacks deal an additional 1161 damage for 10 seconds.

I was toying with this idea. Leaning towards Kvatch and Automaton sets.

I've long toyed with the idea of using:

      3 x Sunderflame jewelry
      2 x Mephala's undaunted head/shoulders
5 x Kvatch Gladiator crafted armor

Front bar: 2 x Sunderflame weapons
Back bar: 2 x Maelstrom daggers

Course, I'm not actually going to devote the months to farming that stuff.

I have been running Sergeant set + Red Mountain + Selene or Velidreth... single target damage is decent... sustained DPS isn't all that great... but the burst potential is amazing!!!

In PvP... the biggest problem is landing heavy attacks especially against zippy medium armor builds... it is very important to slow people down in order to land heavy hits.

In mid size group fights... it is a REAL pain to stay on one target with heavy attacks.

I am always trying out new sets and when I find one that is promising, I will continue to work on it.

Sergeant + DK Molten Armaments is a fantastic combination. I just wish the Undaunted Unweaver set wasn't such a pain to farm... Sergeant took me a couple weeks to farm... and I still am trying to get a couple more pieces in Impen... fortunately, the other pay off of farming Sergeant is the ridiculous amounts of Rubedo leather I have acquired.

Undaunted Unweaver on the other hand, the best way to farm this would be with a full group to increase your chances of a drop... and I have yet to see a jewlery piece of this set so I really don't know if it comes with Robust trait or not...

Sergeant + Undaunted Unweaver combined would make for some really nasty heavy attacks!!!

I guess I felt like doing some math this morning. The damage calculation for a heavy attack = 0.055076 (Stat) + 2.1998 (Weapon Damage) - 1.27439. This is roughly a 40:1 ratio for stamina/weapon damage to calculate your heavy attacks with 1 weapon damage equal to 40 points into stamina. So weapon damage is more important for a heavy attack build than stamina but they both contribute.

The damage bonus for the 5th piece bonus on sergeant's mail (assuming 1600 to each heavy attack) is equivalent to 718 weapon damage. If you run jewelry and two heavy pieces you can still fit in a full medium armor set. If CP and molten armaments buff this damage from sergeant's mail ( I don't know if it does) it would be an improvement over queens elegance.

Here's my source for the calculation. I don't know if it has changed. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/260709/what-determines-light-heavy-attack-damage#latest
