They are getting better at making sure that the word "patch" is in there when it should be, and not in there when it should not be.

This will be a pretty small patch that will fix some bugs, and could even be the last patch of the year. We can expect small patches until Update 13 drops in February.

I started playing again (after 1,5 years) only yesterday and my face was smacked with a patch maintenance immediately. So yes, much to learn I still have.
Same thing happened to me!
I just finished (finally) making a good looking new character, crafted a leveling set, and set up CP's when the maintenance message pops up. XD1 -
