Player Housing Floorplan Questions

One of the things that has always bugged me about the castles in DC is the way their INSIDE in no way corresponds to their OUTSIDE. Take this Northpoint castle for instance:
hVg4WN1.png

On the inside there is a great hall/ throneroom, a small office type space on the main floor. Upstairs is a small foyer type room, a large open space and a single bedroom. Downstairs in another small foyer type space and one large room with a bed off in a corner of it. Really? That's all the rooms this massive castle possesses? And the nearly identical castles in Wayrest, Daggerfall and Evermore are, well, nearly identical.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about that. Obviously a lot of shortcuts were made to get the game released in a timely manner and this sort of thing is pretty minor. But when it comes to PLAYER HOUSING that I am going to have to pay for (either with in-came currency or actual money and more likely a combination of both) I am expecting MUCH BETTER from you ZOS. I know you won't be able to put in ALL the rooms such a castle would have. But I expect that there will be a LOT more than in these castles I've used in examples above.

So... can we please see floorplans now at least? Pretty please?

They are very big rooms though... :stuck_out_tongue:

If datamining pulls up floor plans before ZOS produce them I'll try to let you know. But I would imagine that if any player house is remotely like any house that already exists in-game from the outside, then the inside will be the same too. For example, the castle near Daggerfall is probably a copy of the Wayrest/Daggerfall/Camlorn/Northpoint/Evermore/Alcaire Castle, and the large Altmer house is probably a copy of the Skywatch/Silsailen/Woodhearth/Velyn Harbor (etc) Manor layout.

That would be REALLY disappointing. Though the rooms ARE pretty big and if they gave us the ability to add additional walls that MIGHT help. However, even though the rooms are large, they come nowhere near reaching the same amount of space as is indicated by the outside of the castle. I really hope they've considered all this with player housing.

Luckily we will be able to preview the houses before we purchase them so we will know exactly what we are getting.

Are you sure about that? Because they seem to match fairly closely to me.
(Though I confess I've not looked at the back of the outside to see if the nave juts out).

The thing that gets me often times is how poorly defended some factions have built their structures. Orcinium isn't so bad as far as defenses go. Its built on a hill, has multiple gates, etc. The great tree seems awful. Light her up she's gone, and there's no defenses visible, though perhaps nature/magic comes out to the Graht tree's defense, something that's not patently apparent, so I'll give it that. Looking at Aldmeri structures though, they really seem poorly designed for defense. I think the real reason the elves lose to the Imperials, Nords, and Redguards is that they have no understanding of how to create defenses. Elves are just too cocky perhaps.

Yeah, it's at the bottom of the announcement.

    Magic > walls.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

    Magic > walls.

Except that the humans have it too. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Elves are just too cocky. They may be better at magic, but its probably really prissy magic that involves making flowers grow faster. I'd like to add that really good battlements would help multiply the effectiveness of your magic. In all fairness though, I suppose if you can summon a storm atronach on top your enemies walls that would be pretty annoying and make battlements less effective. In all seriousness though, look at elven structures. They don't look like they're meant for proper defense. Even in Cyrodiil it looks fairly weak.
