No gendered items, freedom of gender expression!
It's also possible for (biological) women to have facial hair like that. that's not the point though, since the actual significant thing is that restricting someone's character customization (when CC doesn't affect anyone but the customizer) has no actual benefits, only negatives

Point is that even the use of word "restriction" making it hard to actually reflect your identification. For example - I want to use that specific hair style but I can't cause there are some rules that I have to follow. I have to follow that heteronormative way that someone put in the game. That if I want my male character to be more feminine? I can't cause men has to have muscular mannerism. That if I don't want my female character to walk like a fashion model? (There is even sexism in it). The Sims 4 is a great example of how character creation can actually make things work. Even if they but away that word "restricted" away will make it much easier.

Gendered items, I want a limited gender spectrum.
I like how ZOS just redirected me to a bias poll. Personally I don't care what hairstyle my AP is wearing. I'm not going to support such an asinine argument though.

I am livid that most of the new style parlor items are gendered. I think its disturbing and disrespectful.

What's disturbing is that anyone should become 'livid' over something as utterly inconsequential as this.

    No kidding.

It's a game. There are always rules to follow. Sometimes it's just simple coding/mesh/graphic/model etc that are behind these restrictions.

Sometimes I think people have to stop reading too much into these things and seemingly looking for ways to get offended. You are doing more harm than good for us, and via such actions actually increasing any observed divisions and discrimination that are present. Differences are everywhere, and whilst certainly some imposed differences are terrible and malicious that does not mean all differences are.

Most importantly: It is a fantasy game. It is not a simulator of real-life. Try and enjoy it for what it is rather than not enjoying it for what it isn't.
If you can be anything, be kind.

No one who is against this explained why Zeira can wear a male-only hair style but none of my female characters should be able to, though.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

If your mission in life is to find offense in everything in order to maintain some false victimization, bravo. What validation do you seek in your quest to find the most ridiculously simple thing and twist it into some sort of attack against you? This is a virtual world with its own lore and set of societal rules. Funny thing is, it would seem that the Elder Scrolls Universe is very LGBT friendly. All you had to say is that you wanted a particular hairstyle. Don't find perceived slights against you that aren't really there.

There is plenty of precedent for NPCs having styles/clothing that PCs cannot have. That being said, hopefully it's just a matter time before it will be added. It's an ongoing process: MMOs, they're always adding more things and expanding as time goes by. I'm sure such a quality of life option it will be available sometime in the future.

I hope so. I hate that there is still stuff that is locked for us - it isn't even that it is not part of the character creator, it is just locked for no good reason. Not only race-locked hair colors, which is my #1 complaint since beta, but did you know the face painting the Morkul Clan wears in Wrothgar is not available to Orcs, but it is available to Bosmer? It really annoys me.
