From the stands, from our bands set the whole planet shaking

Our inventions are legends! There’s nowt we can’t make and

So we make brilliant music. We make brilliant bands

We make goals that make souls leap from seats in the stands

And we make things from steel and we make things from cotton

And we make people laugh, take the mick summat rotten

And we make you at home and we make you feel welcome

And we make summat happen, we can’t seem to help it

And if you’re looking for history then yes, we’ve a wealth

But the Manchester way is to make it yourself

And make us a record, a new number one

And make us a brew while you’re up, love. Go on!

And make us feel proud that you’re winning the league

And make us sing louder and make us believe it

that this is the place that has helped shape the world

And that this the place where a Manchester girl

Led a Suffragette City with sisterhood pride

And this is the place with appliance of science

We’re on it, atomic, we strut with defiance

In the face of a challenge we always stand tall

And they coughed on the cobbles to the deafening sound

Of the steaming machines and the screaming of slaves

They were scheming for greatness, they dreamed to their graves

And they left us a spirit, they left us a vibe

And there’s hard times again in these streets of our city

I've a friend who does this. It boils down to having a subscription gives you a sense of being forced to play the game since you're on a time limit before it runs out, hindering you from fully enjoying it. He also have zero interests in crafting. And that's why he buy crowns to get access to the DLC's.

The only reason I sub is because I like to be self sufficient. If it weren't for the craft bag, then I'd have zero reason to sub. I just remember the last time I played this game how much of a ballache it was keeping all those mats. When i returned I had no intention of subbing, then subbed as soon as I found out they had implemented a craft bag. Says it all really when a simple storage bag is worth more to most people than the crowns and other benefits do.
  • Wandering_Ashlander
I did not spend money on crowns or cashshop yet for simple reasons :
    - no interesting DLC content to me
    - no interesting pvp content, current or announced or scheduled
    - overwhole lack of consideration for pvp
    - current features (PvP/RvR, crafting, trading, justice) are too superficial compared to current competition (GW2, SWTOR, BDO)
    - quite interesting competitive titles are incoming (CF, SC) some current titles are heading my way (BDO)

I bought the game for solo and decent PvP/RvR (awaiting for a better one in BDO) and the actual RvR is in a dire state according to feedback... Well, at least I got the solo part.

To me, game's worth what I paid for it : not much.

Was an ESO Plus sub for the longest time.. but due to serious br0kenness of PVP currently and no action whatsoever from ZOS to fix / correct / work to make it better in a timely manner, I can't convince myself to send them any money.
It's like rewarding a kid that does something terrible.

Sucks to play without crafting bag though... good thing I still had my bank manager addon setup around to auto move crap to a bank toon.

Would be happy to send them money if they show ANY interest in fixing stuff in a less than "next DLC" sort of timeframe. Not the 2+ years with broken toppling charge, continuous in-combat issue, cyrodiil lag again very much present since 1T, procsets literally killing any fun in PvP, ...

This is a game and if you are spending that kind of money on it you need your head examined. Donate some money to charity if you are that rich but why on earth would anyone spend that kind of money on superficial items in a game? It just seems wrong to me and incredibly selfish. To be fair, you don't really need any items from the crown store to be good... it's just optional and what I've noticed is useless apart from the racial change feature (which imo was a good update)... but people saying this game going towards the 'donator' end Hah! no chance... this game is buy2pplay and grind2win ... no chance it'll become pay2win... only those butt hurt sore losing chumps of umpa lumpas would say it'll soon become pay2win...

I sub. The craftibag is the primary reason but I enjoy dying costumes as well.

I'm a simple player. One character, one game, stay there for years. So ESO is where I currently go to play everyday. I do think I get my money's worth.

I don't pvp so can't speak to any concerns there. I do like crafting set gear so am not happy with the trend toward farming dropped gear it seems. I also won't touch the crown crates. The game overall is a good home for my elf but, like any game, not perfect. I expect to stay there for some time to come.

Subscription is what I find real support to the game. Also, QoL is real, I can just open any container in game knowing all provisioning stuff will be stored in bag, without cluttering my char at all.

I buy stuff I like in CS, have few horses, a pair of Guars, Kagouti, Senche, various pets, some costumes...
Only thing I will skip is hole con crate system. I dislike gambling, I don't feel that trash is a reward and many items one would be cluttered with are pure trash that I would not use ever. That is why I hope that some of the mounts I would love to have will not be locked in that system. If they are, I will be sad but still no con crates for me.

I sub. I like crafting, the craft bag is very useful, the DLC access is much appreciated, and I like the thought that I can turn off my access to the DLC if the dungeon finder issues become a problem for me.

I don't buy Crowns separately, I only spend the "allowance" that comes with the subscription. The subscription is not much more than I pay for Netflix, and I play ESO a lot more than I watch Netflix, so I don't have a problem with that. :)

I was very hesitant at first to subscribe. My husband subscribed many months before I did, but I had to make sure that the game felt worthwhile to me. In the beginning there were too many things that felt like a moneygrab. I needed to find the things that weren't first.

    Three reasons.

    1. Broke
    2. The benefits for subbing are hackish, at best
    3. I already paid £12 for the game; want more of my money? Give me another £12 of content, not one pound of content being sold for a tenner

If ZOS stops the cash-grabbing and actually puts effort into development, I.E, actual expansions and not this micro-transaction DLC nonsense, I'd be inclined to spend some more cash on the game.

Have an eso plus sub at the moment, runs out in Feb. Haven't logged in since crates launched. I might do so to see how they have impacted on the game itself. If the impact is minimal and future updates good, then I will renew. If it is not, I will delete the game for good.

Well, the impact to content release probably won't be felt for at least a few months because of content creation cycles.
But if you mean the impact regarding the stuff you see when you log in, you will see a couple atronach mounts here and there, sometimes a Red Pit Wolf mount/pup, and lots, LOTS of wizard hats. I swear everyone is wearing some kind of wizard hat. The huge number of wizard hats is a happy little consequence, as I find it much more immersive to see lots of people with a few different leather hats than wearing pots on their heads like before.

When I 1st bought ESO, I was tempted to sub but held off til I was sure ZOS had their act together. I made the right choice not subbing.

The game ruining bugs, the horrid balance, the questionable business decisions, the lack of communication, the list goes on. How anyone can support that kind of behavior is beyond me honestly. The game, at its core, is nice but a person can only tolerate so much crap before the shine wears off.

I think the only downside of not spending any money on crown/sub for people who don't craft would be access to the DLCs. I like having access to the DLCs. I've bought a couple of them with the crowns I get from the sub. I also like the crafting bag. Before One Tamriel, I could have probably managed without it, but with the gazillion sets out there now, inventory management has become a bit more problematic again...

Do you actually play BDO yet? Because if you want to be competitive in PvP and take part in GvG and node wars you are pretty much looking at a full time job.

Heck, I'm a filthy casual with scrub gear and I'm logged in 24/7.

I don't subscribe because I would have ended up paying approximately $360 since I started playing (Console release). I only buy crowns when there is a sale or when I really want something. I have spent approx. $120 on crowns since I started playing for DLC and other extraneous stuff, including a 15 pack of crates. I saved big by not subbing, and I intend to keep it this way.
