Your sets are fine, any of those you listed will perform well. But sets alone won't magically make you do twice the DPS. If you follow the suggestions that I and Oreyn_Bearclaw made it would make a significant difference. ESO is a game of inches...you make a bunch of small improvements to your build that, by themselves, are relatively insignificant but as a whole combine to something larger.

Thanks to you Oreyn_Bearclaw, farming for sharpened elegant gear now, by the way the I know the sword dw passive does not carry onto the overload, so many people do hence why they go for 700k on pc and daggers go for around 300k

Sets can be situational, but honestly if u can't afford the sharpened elegance swords, I used to use 5 elegant clothes, 2 torugs swords for my overload, 3 aether jewelry enchanted with spell damage (well I keep one recov but whatev) 2 kena, and a maelstrom front barred.

This way your elegance is on both bars which is awesome after the maelstrom woe enchant for weaving, and now your two sharpened easy to get torugs swords also give like 150ish more sp- enchant one with the glyph that adds 400 spell damage.

Then, simply power surge, drop woe, swap, swing your swords twice to proc kena and glyph, and now you have ~1000 extra spell power and 20% extra light attack damage for overload, PLUS the torugs sharpened bonus PLLUUUSS woe enchant. Lay down a rearming trap and then you'll see those "Xbox record that" worthy 60k crits more often than you'd think.

Some people loathe not having julianos 5p but my crit is just fine and things melt lol...even if 5/10 overloads don't crit (they usually do even at 50% crit, but just for the sake of my point), that's like 300,000 from the ones that do. Once the buffs run out you'll still see 32k minimum so that's very roughly half a mil damage. The crematorial guards won't stand a chance.

Jewelry: Elegant with Spell Damage
Head and Shoulder: Monster set. Your Kena is fine, but honestly Llambris is more DPS. I recently switched and its better.
Chest, Legs, Gloves, shoes, belt: 4 TBS, 1 Elegant. All armor is divines and with gold magic enchants.
Staff: 1 TBS Sharp Inferno (spell damage glyph)
DW: 1 Sharp TBS Sword, 1 Sharp Elegant (any DW). I only suggest a sword in case they change it. Now, all are fine, but if crafting, might as well make sword. For the elegant, take what you can get. I personally use an axe, but daggers and maces work too. (glyph really doesnt matter here)

Only need Elegant Jewelry, 1 armor piece, and 1 DW weapon. The rest are monster sets and crafted. Sharp Gold weapons are number one priority.

The other great part about this build is that if you craft an extra TBS staff (pref Lightning) and replace the Elegant Jewelry and one armor piece with Infallible Aether or Moondancer, you are set for trials. The Elegant 4 piece will work fine until you farm the Aether/Moondancer.

What you need to understand is that when people talk about 55k overloads, they talk about their crits on mobs and bosses that are vulnerable to shock. So Valkyn Tephra, Ash titan and Crem Guards. The rest of the the time we hit for 45k on average (on mobs big mobs and a few bosses). Then against the final boss we are only hitting for 40kish.

Yeah I have discovered this, I found that the more human type enemies and daedra are the most vulnerable

For my molag kena pieces should I get reinforced or divines. I have 1 heavy and 1 medium for the undaunted mettle passive so no need to worry about that.

It absolutely works. I run it all the time. As long as you have a TBS weapon on both bars and 4 TBS armor pieces you will NOT lose the buff. You just need to make sure there are 5 TBS pieces on both bars.

In VMA use 1 TBS staff and 1 TBS sword (Plus one elegant axe, 1 elegant belt, and 3 jewelry).

In trials until very recently I ran 2 TBS staffs. On that build I ran Aether Jewlery and a Belt.

Absolute BiS for magic DPS on mSorc is 5 (TBS or BSW), 3 Aether Jewelry, 2 Llambris, Aether sharp lightning staff on front bar and sharp VMA inferno back bar. If you don't have both of those staffs in sharp, just craft them in TBS and wear one Aether armor piece. Finally got my sharp VMA yesterday.

For PVE DPS, the answer is ALWAYS divines on your armor and sharp on weapons, especially if running TBS. The whole set revovles around mundus stones. Llambris is better than Kena for pretty much every scenario. Even on overload, I do better total DPS with Llambris. If you are a mSorc, Llambris is Meta.

IA 3 set bonus only works in dungeons remember, also to get the best out of BSW and Ilambris you need to have some sort of constant flame damage happening (not sure if you use an inferno staff)

Just to clarify:

Elegant and Spinner - Swords Sharpen with 41k Max Magicka you'll hit for overload of 55-60k feel free to watch my vma videos of my mage showing this.

However this is NOT viable. Simply because of the hit and miss with the very very low crit rate.

Generally I run Julianos and Elegant with 36k Max Magicka 1500 regen hitting for 46-50k overloads easily.

As bear stated above, purple armor pieces is fine, take me for example all purple I'll never gold a armor set unless it's TBS which I did.

Weapons are big big deal, they must be gold and as stated sharpen or nothing.
The math behind this was something like 12% with sharpen as a general DPS increase where precise gave 6-7% if I remember correctly.

To be absolutely fair MAX MAX magicka is a misconception also. You really don't need to get 40-45k magicka this is all subject to play style.

If I can deal solid numbers with 36k magicka you can too. A lot people get disheartened looking at others with MAX stats sure it's great but really not required to do all the end game content.

Elegant is an amazing set and where it's only a " one trick pony " in VMA and maybe some dungeons I really can't see it being used in vdsa or any vet trials.
