In the US you can get timecards from Gamestop and other official outlets. They literally just print a code on your receipt that you enter in your account page. And make sure you tell them the platform because timecards are platform specific.

You can use a prepaid card or the Steam wallet if you are playing with Steam.

You can get a prepaid visa gift card, register the name/address over the phone, than make the purchase.

This really works? XB1 here, I never tried registering it after getting denied with my visa gift cards.

I had tried using one of those "Vanilla" prepaid cards and even after registering with the bank Xbox still wouldn't let me pay. That was back in October and I haven't tried since. I had posted this exact question in another thread and was told this issue has finally been resolved and you can either use Xbox prepaid cards on your account, or Crowns to make a one-time, 30-day purchase without a credit card being tied to your account. Above, codes from Gamestop are also mentioned.

Can anyone confirm this is true? Have you signed up for a month of ESO plus without a credit card tied to your Microsoft Account?

I would like to know this as well, since I've never seen ZOS chime in on these threads, and I see posters claiming how it can be done but never confirming if they're able to do it themselves.

I'm on PS4, but in my experience when using prepaid cards, subscriptions don't usually work - because the machines want "permanent" data so they can charge it again when the subscription renewal comes round - since Sony and MS can both verify a card and information entered's integrity in seconds, it's understandable that they wouldn't allow this to work without an 'actual' CC. You can make purchases fine with them, but I've never been able to subscribe to anything - atleast I know when I tried to with FF14, I was not able to. I've tried with both Visa and Mastercard at different times - and yes I always register my cards on the site, I have like 50 accounts with these guys lol

They basically don't want to get stuck in the situation of charging you, or trying to charge you for the renewal, only to end up with a bounce because your card doesn't have the funds for it.

That said, I have a friend who managed to have a netflix account on a prepaid card he continuously topped up, and I haven't tried since the era of PS3 like 10 years ago now lol, so for all I know they have changed things.
