Going for Destro/Restro Templar but i keep seeing videos and builds with dual wield.
Should I be concerned that i'm much weaker than them in terms of damage?
Does anyone go destro templar now?
I particularly do not like Destruction, then again I'm not really familiar with it either.
For my Magplar I run duel wield (as I mostly just use Puncturing Sweeps) and run a Restoration on back bar. I honestly only run the restoration staff on back bar so that I can queue as a healer for dungeons because it takes forever as a damage dealer and use my main bar for solo play, overland play, and trials.
Also duel wield allows you to use two full five piece sets + a monster set if that's what your goal is.
If I remember correctly, the Twin Blade and Blunt passive for DW gives you 2.5% increased damage per sword once that passive is maxed at 2 of 2. So, if you have that passive maxed, you will get a 5% increase to all of your damage done, regardless of what type of damage it is.
I get that DW will get me more damage but to me it doesn't feel like a mage class if i'm using swords.
Would I be THAT crippled if i use Destro instead of DW?
My thought was to use Eye of the Storm ulti with Puct Sweeps.
I love the destruction staff on my healer. Pulsar is also a fun debuff for the group, mobs go down 10% faster, and it even works on most one bar minibosses.

I don't think you'll be that crippled. If all you're doing is pve content you should be just fine. Might make a difference in pvp where it's usually more about burst damage than dot's (or it has been in the past at least).
With my mDK I'll notice a drop of about 1-2k in crit damage between destro and DW with the lava whip and about 200ish per tick with standard of might (ult dot for 17 seconds or so).
So in the grand scheme of things you should be just fine.
