Probably just the wrong time to ask . Many players are mixed right now because we've been in dire need of an update , fix , maintenance ect .

Roleplaying and exploration, ESO is a RPG after all.

Personally, it's never been the meta that drives me away from PvP, whatever state it's in. It's always been the PvP community.

Solo questing and alts with a bit of casual cyrodiil when I feel like torturing myself.

Still can't figure out this optimal build nonsense so I'm probably not going to step into trials or vet dungeons for a while.

In other MMOs I spend the vast majority of my time in PvP. In ESO I haven't been that fond of PvP since after the first month of release when everyone was running around willy nilly and (most, including me) didn't know how to optimize our characters.

My opinion disclaimer: assume all sentences begin with "IMO,". This is a preemptive IMO. Just know that I've got a whole bag of IMO with your name on it.

ESO just has too much math you can (must) use that overwhelms gameplay. MMO PvP is best set up to thrive when it's more enticing to newer players. This "proc meta" doesn't even seem that abnormal to me. Haven't people been exploding or never dying despite gameplay for a long time now? I guess when it's everyone doing it it becomes more annoying than a handful of veterans.

I do have hope for ESO PvP though; I mean look how far PvE has come since launch, especially with 1T. Got rid of veteran ranks, everywhere scaling, no alliance borders fresh off the boat... BUT, even with all the PvE enhancements, this game wouldn't survive on dungeons alone. People of all CP/gear levels and all gameplay experience levels get thrown into the same mix in PUGs where you can easily see the wide range of performance.

That's what ESO PvP is also, but of course players are much deadlier than the best AI. Limited game-modes that are very unforgiving, (horse rides, faction imbalance, availability), combined with a long power treadmill, extremely free-form character development, and a combat system that new players need a youtube video to explain to them how to optimize. PvP is not friendly to new players, even in BWB, and it would be better for all PvP'ers if it was.

Anyway, despite this I'm optimistic. I never thought they'd get rid of veteran levels and they did. Open world freedom and scaling has made recent ESO pitches to my friends successful and they're having fun. If they can make those kinds of fundamental changes to the game then they can fix PvP when they put their minds to it. I can't even knock their priorities because this influx of casual PvE'ers will no doubt fund the (hopefully) upcoming PvP changes.

A mix of roleplay, exploration, questing and generally just plodding around taking my sweet time to do whatever I please.

I am not a Hedonist but I do enjoy most (but not all) aspects of the game.

I am with you on going in a direction that one's mood takes you in. Sometimes that might be hard questing - othertimes just ambling in the countryside, admiring the view and gathering a few flowers along the way.

I find it rather disturbing to kill other players and even some NPCs and wild animals, so PvE is my choice of game, hands down.

Isn't that always the excuse though? I don't think I've ever come across a single title where PvPers haven't constantly blamed the meta or lag or whatever for any real or imagined population issues.

I used to be a PvEer like you, then I took an arrow to the knee...

It got repetitive. PvP doesn't do that.

I have 3 stamina characters dedicated to trials: DK, NB and Sorc. The great thing about trials is that when you have a good trial guild, with fun people, it just lights up a day.

I have 2 magicka characters on which I mostly PvP: Sorc and NB. Funny that I prefer playing stamina in PvE and magicka in PvP, whereas everyone else does the exact opposite as magicka builds are just stronger in trials. But I love to PvP on my sorc with some friends.

And also, when you're french playing with other frenchies, trolling people in chat is just priceless.
