Resto staff Powered vs Precise?

So has anyone done some in depth testing about what is best of powered vs precise as a resto staff?

At what spell power and spell critical rating is powered better than precise to use?

Currently im running 5 spell power cure, 5 Innfallible aether - all divines except my spc gloves wich i havent looted the divines for yet.

Since i dont got my master resto yet im stuck with the maelstrom resto(or some gold i have from other sets wich wouldnt provide a buff other than m restore enchant). Where i can choose between powered or precise.

My options are either 67,4% spell crit and 7% increased healing or 74,4% spell crit.

I am an argonian.

The usage is for vet trials with mainly healing springs.

Id be interested to know this too. Thinking out loud I guess As powered gives oopmh to heals I guess it does depend on the skills you use. Multiple presses are more crit chances, vs consistent big heals.

I guess also you reach a critical masse with Crits. Like DPS you kinda don't gain much once past 55-60% I feel.

Curious to know if some like @Asayre has looked at the maths

As a DPS if you only have 55% crit you should review your build. If you can get more crit, get more crit. Stam builds (people still play stam builds?) should be sitting at around 75%. Magicka around 70%. For example Aether vs Moondancer 4 piece on a DPS: 3% crit chance > 967 max magicka.

Precise is only around 3.5% more healing on average, powered is a flat 7%. If you are just looking for more healing, then powered is the way to go.

But more healing is only so effective, precise will help the dps you put out. So if I had to choose between just those 2, precise would win.

On the other hand you said in a trial, in trials, you are not going to be dpsing, so powered might be better, just keep in mind that the more you stack into healing done, the less useful it becomes.

Powered = more healing, precise = more DPS (if you do some while on resto bar) the difference is not really great. I use precise as I do not feel lack of healing.

Well with a powered staff you can drop cp points from blessed into ele and therm for more DPS.

I would rather run defending if I had it. A dead healer is a bad one.

Not having a go at you, but it's actually scary how many people think that this bad maths (i.e. in the link you provided) is accurate. Mathematicians would be spitting out their tea in disgust at the way people interpret and use percentages on these forums (and in general).

Well, math aside, i would go with a common sense rule of thumb. Precise increases both healing and damage, powered increases only healing. So assuming one isn't flat-out better than the other in all scenarios, powered should be better at pure healing, since that's all it does.
