Ugly armour on hip-sides

Why do most ESO armor sets have those huge, ugly hip-flap pieces that float four inches from your body? I spent 10 minutes on Google looking at armor and you see nothing like what we are subjected to wear. It would be nice to see ZOS do some reworking of the armor sets.

Didn't you know that the Ehlnofey had their hearts in their hips and thus both men and mer need armor on their hindquarters?

It's a pity we can't turn off the flaps just like we do helmets, maybe that would give the game less to render, helping the grumpy bunnies in pvp :)

Seriously, if all armour sets lost those things there are so many combinations I would love to try

    Please ZOS :)

Shame as lower level armors don't have these things. I forget what level they show up at.

I bet if ZOS ever decides to do the right thing and allow all mats to make all levels of gear (just adjust how many mats for each level), and keep the artwork (so this is an easy database change), most people will be using armors styles that used to be lower level
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Most of my favorite looking armours are below level 50, and many of them don't have the flappy flaps, why can't we make max level gear look like lower level stuff, how hard can it be?

I Don't understand why especially on light armor they have added this. Light armor is just cloth same with the shoulder pads which they do not have on any of the story line NPC in the game( that I have noticed ). Much more natural and realistic without these silly Looking pieces

the hip flaps have bothered me ever since I First noticed them.

for the most part though, on heavy armor, they look... idk... somewhat proper? as in they actually look as they belong, don't float a few inches off to the sides, and mesh(clip) well with the rest of the armor. They also make sense. ON HEAVY.

On light and medium they look extremely stupid, are always floating for some reason, and make NO Sense, because they would restrict all movement if they were really there. Someone (A Lot of someones considering how many styles have this issue) had a HUGE extended brain fart and just started adding these stupid things to ALL armor.

ZOS pay attention, they are ugly, extremely so, make no sense, and just look outright stupid(make you kinda look stupid too tbh, as the people who decided they look cool. Getting this sense its like a mentality deficient child who adds shark fins to all his toy cars so they can swim faster.)

Is this actually true? It's not on the wiki - but if it's true this is a very cool analysis of the matter.

By the way OP they're called tassets and I don't know how Google didn't show you any because I literally typed in "Knight's armour" and 99% of pictures have them. It's just that IRL they are typically part of the chest piece - in ESO they are their own piece, but still the same concept. If you ever got slashed in your upper leg you face a very high chance of bleeing out - even without the heart thing Runagate said. Your femoral artery is in your leg. Getting struck there on a battlefield is basically a garaunteed death. You would need a field medic or fast travel times irl to escape such an injury alive.

This almost reminds me of everybody who got mad about Kylo Ren's hilt and failed to recognize how such a hilt could have saved both Luke and Vader from losing hands...

It's not just aesthetic, there is actual functionality. ESO's tassets def. have flair to them, but they aren't that bad.

And here's where they hire from. Dudes who think cloth(IE robes shirts) and leather mobile armors had these things... just... cuz.

I wouldn't mind them so much if they didnt look like they were levitating and where actually fitted to the characters hips.

That will never happen now with One Tameriel. Unless you have a low level character you never want to level that does nothing but sit in a zone of each type of material so you can farm it.

To AtmaDarkWold (I messed up my format so I have to reply this way)

I typed "Leather Armour" in google - every piece has tassets. It almost seems like a compaint for the sake of complaining.

Robes I understand more - but there was never "combat robes" for mages in real life. That said, I used Light Armour Robes, and I don't have tassets on my set.

Y'all make it sound like it's some sort of intensive labour to remove skinned parts of a mesh. All you got to do is load up the model, select the unwanted verts, hit delete and then re-export it.

The solution is to just have armour variants. Add a wee option to the dyeing station where you can pick from a list of varying armour styles, for a specific armour piece, and we're golden.

Yeah, my Khajit just turned from using Jute robe to using Flax robe and by the nine i hate these idiotic floaty things!

Really need a way to keep using low level item looks because they all look the best to me compared to higher level stuff which often is just too bulky to my liking.

No, dont add cost7umes to the store for this, they are not theanswer.
