Would You Like a Housecarl in ESO?

Being as space is growing into more and more of an issue with new sets coming into the picture, and other misc. things being released — would you like the option of having a housecarl to help carry your stuff limitlessly?

In a sense it would be similar to crafting bags given to ESO+ Plus members, in that there would be no limit to the amount of things they could hold. Thus solving the other half of space issues (the first half being crafting materials). I'm not saying it has to be only available to ESO+ members, but just the concept in general.

    Yes, because...
I voted yes, because it would make things dramatically easier to keep things organized. While also helping with space issues I'm running into time and time again. Plus, I think it would have nice synergy with the housing update that ZOS has planned. And would work wonderfully, being as it's confirmed you'll have the option to buy your house AND craft furniture for it. All that is missing is a housecarl for your house.

Just think for a moment... A house... A banker... A merchant... And a housecarl. Seems to go well with everything quite nicely.

I agree. I'd assume it'd be set up as the assistants. Just like the banker and merchant, a humanoid pet more or less, but with functions.

They would obviously serve no point combat wise, but prove usefulness in storage and random banter while exploring.

Correct. That's what I'm aiming that. That type of function.

    Yes, because...
I desperately want an assistent who can store certain gear sets so that they can easily be shared between characters.

Some of my characters are currently sharing certain items and it is so annoying logging in and out just to move one item through the bank every time I want to play a different character. Only one character uses the item at a time, so it seems fair to have a quicker way to share.

If I understand your suggestion then potentially we could change gear set-ups easily midway through a dungeon (I know that is possible with the banker assistant, but only if the items are already in your bank).

    Questions?
Should it be an unlimited carry space? Hmm, probably not, otherwise what is the point of inventory/bank space?

If it is an assistent then could your group use it? I wonder if this assistant could be used to temporarily share bound gear with group members... only for the duration of the group, but it would allow friends to test out gear without grinding for it first.

Yes but you should only get one if you have s house in Skyrim, given that housecarls are bodyguards of Jarls and their Thanes.

But to get one, you should have to do some questing for a hold Jarl and earn it.

Actually that would be a GREAT way of implementing something very important, while also giving the player base something to strive for in doing quests. Kind of like how mounts should be awarded depending upon certain quests (e.g. Wrothgar should've awarded the Polar Bear mount and cub). If you do enough quests and obtain thane status, you would have a housecarl added to your collectibles.

OMG! That sounds wonderful! And it has synergy with housing. And even more so, you'd get to have something very useful that doesn't require the players to buy it with crowns. It's earned. @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_RichLambert Please look into this idea. It works so nicely with things, and goes wonderfully together.

Well we could be! I heard Whiterun is taking anyone
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Hmmm, I'd say yes, but I'd like someone's input on how this would affect the in game economy? Or would it have little to no affect at all?

An endless amount, again? Why not just let us store crap in our craft bags?

You're telling me that I can somehow hold thousands of mats like ore and leathers(do you know how heavy this is?), but can't store a weapon or item? :p

Jokes aside, I don't know if I'd like seeing an endless container. This would make having an inventory(that takes 60 days to max) almost pointless.

That is of course if we can freely throw stuff in there at any time, just like the craft bags.

I don't quite see how this would effect the game economy, considering this is based more so about storage space. Rather than buying something or selling something. This would also be in sync with the: Merchant, banker, fence, etc. So in theory, this should have little to no effect on it in the slightest.

when the game first came out they had npc's in pvp that you could spawn on places, they took them out of rotation due causing unknow problems. I can see mercenary's/housecarls the same way.

    No, because...
No. I already have an unlimited bag for mats, and a banker assistant. If the proposed housecarl is just another storage item, I see no real use for it.

In Skyrim, I loved having a housecarl for the company; it's more fun to roam around with someone to fight with. Since I play ESO solo a lot, I'd love a companion to fight with. I would vote for that. But not for storage.

I do like the idea of having crafting tables at our house, and the ability to craft set items there after some kind of learning quest.
