Playing Both ESO & Skyrim Causing Awkwardness

The best way to play Skyrim is to set an alarm for when you intend to stop playing Skyrim, and then a second alarm for when you definitely have to stop playing Skyrim, because you know you will cancel the first alarm.

In ESO, I have guild chat for that. :D

I played skyrim on PS3 when it came out and found it terribly clunky and buggy
But I was heavily invested in Assassin Creed at the time which was lovely piece of gameplay So when skyrim remastered was announced I got excited even tried it out at Pax convention and it looked ok but played awful so upset so I'm sticking with eso
I also find it difficult to switch from game to game

You know, I never played Oblivion or Skyrim but I played Morrowind a lot way back when. I loved first person point of view. Third pov just felt slow and awkward. I was pumped to experience ESO in fpov but strangely it feels weird and awkward. I feel hindered in ESO using fpov and always play in 3rd person. Not sure why the experiences feel so different using the same views.

Every container i open i still half expect to find motif pages. Was in a dwemer ruin looking out for purple pages. Same thing goes for fishing. Walk past rivers looking out for fishing holes. At least in Skyrim i can get fish roe.

Lmao. So true. I also tend to think most ingredients are junk (e.g. Cheese, carrots, etc.), but have to remember that those now restore health too when consumed. Rather than go to a provisioning learned recipe.

Idk, it just came naturally to me.

I'm actually jumping between ESO, Skyrim and FF14, alternating days that I play each of them so I can complete the weekly stuff of FF14 that I care to complete, ESO on occasion to help friends or get rid of some nagging build idea I have cooked up and Skyrim when I want to feel insanely OP or want a good RPG to relax in

Me too, played the **** out of Skyrim when it came out on PS3 back in 2011. I've played ESO probably everyday since it came out on PS4, and just picked up the Skyrim Special Edition for PS4 the day it came out a few weeks ago. Going back and forth between the 2 on PS4 (omg I wish consoles had a multidisc holder cuz I hate having to get off the couch every time I wanna switch - first world problems right) is very consfusing lol. I'm constantly hitting the wrong buttons. I'm so used to having the square, triangle, and circle buttons for attacks that I can never remember that it's the trigger buttons on Skyrim. Good times

I personally had a steep learning curve with mouse controlled movement a few years ago. I played all the games in the 1990's with the arrow buttons with my right hand for movement, and changing to left handed movement was very awkward for a long time.

But then when I went back to play Arena a few weeks ago I had to use the arrow buttons with my left hand and mouse in my right hand which was slightly awkward but not as much as switching hands.

One big thing I do now with all the legacy games is just re-key everything that's possible to re-key, but as much as possible I try to stick to the more "modern" setup with mouse on the right hand determining which direction I am looking and WASD determining how I move. Other keys like I or B for inventory or backpack don't seem so important, but movement, jumping and direction I'm facing seem really important. Oh, and skills are linked to my mouse.

I'm probably going to buy Star Citizen before the end of the year, so that will be another learning curve with the joystick. I did play the Wing Commander games in the past, but flight is definitely different from fantasy, so I'm hoping the difference will be big enough for my muscular memory to automatically differentiate between them.

Oh dear... Which shout did you have equipped? I did that a few times but I had either Clear Skies or Whirlwind Sprint so nobody got mad at me.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

You should stick to the better game if it's awkward. ESO won't miss one more player, honest.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

Hard not to put in a few minutes of Skyrim Remastered however (including time for modding).

That's awesome, bruh! Definitely pick it up. It's without a doubt worth it. Just make sure that you have hours upon hours to play, as it will consume ridiculous amounts of time. And not in a boring way either. Every single moment is filled with anticipation of what could happen, and what you might see next. Definitely worth every dollar, in my opinion.

Dunno really lol Play eso in 3rd person perspective and skyrim in 1st person. I think I treat skyrim more like a 1st person shooter since you don't have an ability bar like eso.

Haha, opposite issue for me! I love that cooking in ESO actually does something.

I would watch my husband play Skyrim, and I'm addition to fighting bandits and dragons he was doing all these crafting efforts to build armor and enchant things and make alchemy potions... But he never did the cooking part. Periodically he would tell me that I should play Skyrim, I would really enjoy it.

Finally one night when he was away at work my curiosity got the best of me. I popped in the game and created a character, and as soon as I went through the tutorial I picked up some provisioning ingredients and started to cook.

    I was sorely disappointed.
(I loved the game, of course, and even got the Platinum. But man is Skyrim cooking useless.)

So imagine my excitement when I finally figured out that it actually did something in ESO. My husband jokes with the guild all the time about how I "only play for the provisioning."

So I was playing through Skyrim for the 6 th time then I heard that ESO was no longer subscription based... $26 and three days of download later.. and here I am.

MMO is actually a different genre and I haven't actually played an MMO before so everything was wierd for me to be honest.

Why am I casting sword swing? instead of swinging my sword and why is it way way more effective to cast sword swing than just swining my sword?

I can't just guzzle a million health potions haha.
What is with the destruction staves instead of spells

I need a companion to carry all my loot

You're welcome. But, be warned. Things aren't as easy going the stamina route in Skyrim, as it is in ESO. There is no proc sets, and all that type of stuff. And while you can still find tons of success with: Bows, daggers, swords, etc. Just don't expect it to be so easy. I have a few friends who thought it would be easy going the melee route in Skyrim, and very quickly learned that it's not exactly true. It may look badass, but sometimes magicka is just flat out better in certain situations.

I'm noticing that I'm having trouble going between the 2 games at the moment, and was wondering if anyone has experienced this and or knows a way of how to be fluent and proficient in both games on the same platform.

I suppose the reason why it effects me so much going between these 2 games, is because they're both Elder Scrolls titles (I know it sounds silly). But like, when I was playing Skyrim previously back on PS3 — I wasn't playing other Elder Scrolls games. So things felt 'natural' to me. Then years later when playing ESO on PS4, I hadn't touched Skyrim in a long time. Thus ESO felt 'natural' to me upon picking up. Granted that I originally started ESO on Mac, but then transferred to PS4 months later. But now playing ESO and Skyrim on PS4 feels incredibly awkward to me (command/control-wise). I suppose because the system for combat are so dramatically different. But anyway, if anyone can give some advise on how making the transitions between the 2 easier, I'd appreciate it greatly. Because this is throwing me through a loop. Lol.

I play both on the ps4 and honestly I dont feel anything its cool though being able to switch timelines constantly haha

You can change the mouse sensitivity in the ini script in Skyrim, but aye the mouse speed is a factor hehe
