Have I wasted my money?

So, I haven't played here since release in 2014. I bought the imperial edition and all. I didn't have the time to play back then and my membership ran out so I just forgot about ESO. Well, recently I've had some more spare time and decided to pick it up again. I purchased Tamriel Unlimited from G2A and went to redeem my code.

I was then told 'You do not qualify for this product'.

Have I just wasted my money or is there something I'm missing?

Isn't Tamriel Unlimited just another copy of the Base game with a new title? Therefore you don't need it, because you already have it.

Now, ESO Plus membership or the Gold pack (all DLC released so far) might be a thing you'd want to buy. But you don't need a second copy of the game.

Not sure if you still have it installed or not, but you can just load up the previous game, get the updates, and play on. No need for a new copy. Do you still have your old login and password?

As far as an issue with the eTailer, you would need to take that up with them. I am not sure what they would mean with "You Don't Qualify...." as there is no qualification, or subscription required.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

If he attempted to use the new activation code from an existing account that was already activated, that message would be expected. The other thing I can think of is that the game he bought from G2A was for a different platform than what he attempted to use it on.

In any case, like others have said, it was not necessary to purchase a new license to the game. It was already purchased and activated and just needs to be installed and it will be possible to log into the game with that account.

I guess I'll give this copy to my girlfriend then. I have the Imperial Edition, and it was prompting me to buy a membership. I was under the impression that Tamriel Unlimited didn't require a monthly fee which is why I bought it.

If you have not updated the Launcher/Game, it would ask you for a sub. However, no copy of the game now requires a sub. All games, from bought at release to now purchased, are Tamriel Unlimited

So, try updating your copy of the game with the Launcher.
