DK PVE Solo build?

Hi guys,

I've looked through the forums and couldn't find an updated build for a DK that wasn't a tank build. I'm looking for a build that is for PvE as i don't like PvP and one that I can solo with cause I don't know anyone in game yet and I prefer DPS to tanking. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Was thinking Magicka cause I prefer long range dps, but stamina might be fun to try for something different. Thanks so much for the sites, ill check them out

The only problem is dk dps is not really optimal as range dps.. you need to be close to apply dots and spammable skill like whip/rapid strikes... this applies to stam or magicka build.. try going to alcast or deltias website for builds

I roll a mdk and I use 5 piece mothers sorrow 5 piece sun and maelstrom inferno and torag pact duel wield. I use the thief mundus. Weapon dmg seems a little low but remember sun increases all fire dmg by 400+ so it makes up for it. I'm sitting at 71.5 spell crit. And run 25k to 35k in trials. Build is very good for solo play I use the same building for Vmsa.

The problem with ranged solo builds is that 75% of mobs are melee. That in mind you can still effectively play ranged as long as you can kite/cc.

The next issue is that the dragon knight class was designed to be a melee range class we don't have many ranged moves.

To me this leaves 2 options, destro staff with Dk support abilities or stamina with a bow and dk support abilities.

For destro staff i would get force pulse/wall of ele/molten weapons/ flame whip/ flames of oblivion with meteor and on my back bar talons/volatile armor/dragon blood/Breath of fire and inhale with magma armor

For bow i would use pois injection endless hail talons Magnum shot camoflage hunter with the bow ult and on the backbar igneous wep venemous claws Trap beast and vigor or green dragon blood.

Thanks. I realize that it is meant to be melee but I when i think of magicka and staves, i automatically think range lol.

Hmm, my question is, what you plan to do, so, what do you mean by "solo build"? The links posted here are good, but usually the builds described are for high level group play and require some special items, that a lot of people do not have access to.
Sometimes, when you run around solo, you can use Force Shock from the Destruction Staff skill line as a main damage skill, so you have at least some ranged skills. But first, let me know, what you want to do with this build (Maelstrom Arena, soloing dungeons, questing, grouping with randoms for dungeons) and maybe I can help you

I mostly PvE as in do quests, and will probably be soloing dungeons as I am not in a guild and have no one to play with in game. I may end up doing random groups, but that is not a huge priority to me.

Also wondering how mDK can solo vMA. How do you stay alive?

That's what I thought. As I said, the most written guides are usually for group play. They are also usable for random groups for dungeons.
For questing you can really do, whatever you want. If you want to burn down all enemies, sure, go full damage. You can also play more "safe" and put a restoration staff on your second bar and make use of some of the DKs CC (Crowd Control) abilities, like chains, talons etc. Get creative and try out, what works well for you

I usually suggest starting with a 5 piece-set of the Julianos set (can be crafted). There are some slightly better sets for going full DD, but you would have to farm them in dungeons.
You could use 3 pieces willpower jewelry (magicka and spell damage bonus), if you do not have infallible aether jewelry yet (which I assume, since they only drop in 12-player trials). Willpower can be bought from other players at the guild stores or drops as a reward from doing the random daily dungeon.
For head, shoulders and weapons, you can use another crafted set, like Torug's pact, which you can swap out later for a 2 piece monster shoulder + helmet set (Grothdarr is very powerful for magicka DKs).
Usually magicka DK DDs run around with a fire destruction staff on both bars, but as I said, you could also use a restoration staff on one bar.

There is also a guild recruitment section on the forums, where you might find other like-minded players, with whom you can do your first dungeons . A lot of random people expect people to know the mechanics already, when searching for random players.

It's a solo arena, so you are supposed to stay alive on your own

I use Burning Embers and Healing Ward to heal and shield me.
