Random acts of kindness

Things that make ESO quite a special game are the memorable random acts of kindness from fellow players, that can go a long way towards forming long lasting bonds with fellow alliance members, group members and on rare occasions, members of another alliance (but only if you didn't kill them afterwards..)
Things like someone fixing your cold stone trebuchet when its down to the last bar and you are desperately defending a breach in a keep wall.
A fellow group member traveling MILES across cyrodiil to help you out in battle when the odds are against you.. the sigh of relief is almost audible..
You got revived by someone who put themselves in imminent danger to rescue you, sometimes they even die too!
The list goes on and on..
I feel that these are the things that stick with me most of all.
Anyone else have any RAOK moments to share?
Just a poor healer from Glenumbra..

I used to be a kind player like you...until I took an arrow to the knee...

In my experience, I've helped people and they are not that grateful - sure they may say "thank you", but when you ask for help you get nothing but crickets.

Don't get me started on crafting. Half these people want set "xyz" and they just don't take into account the time it took to research all the traits...or getting to the crafting location...or even offer to give you the raw materials.

So...I took too many arrows to the knee...if it doesn't benefit my game, I don't do it anymore.

I try to help out others when I can. One person I was talking to recently while waiting for a boss to rez stated that they were worried that they would not be able to get all the Hollowjack motivs before the event was over. I had the three he needed and just gave them to him. He was very happy about it. It didn't cost me anything and made someone else's day. It was a nice feeling knowing I was able to make someone else's day.

In my opinion helping others makes the game better I feel and, although it may not always be reciprocated - it does help to promote it. :)

I was farming in IC for Telvar and pulled a few too long many adds and got super low on health, an enemy EP Nightblade came out of nowhere and helped me clear them out before I died and lost a bunch of stones, then left to do whatever they were going to do.

They could have easily ganked me when I was low health or let the adds kill me but they didn't and my heart sunk a bit due to that amount of kindness.

A random act of kindness shouldn't be done with the expectation of repayment. As long as they offered you a thanks you should be satisfied. Like Rocky said "Friends don't owe. They do because they wanna do". And I haven't had one instance where someone (guildie or stranger) didn't give me help when I asked for it (though sometimes it may take a bit!)

One of the guys in our guild is always helping others, never asking for anything in return. Donating supplies for crafting CP160 armor, helping with the last few tempers to gold things, donating tons to the guild bank (I think half the funds in there came from him), all sorts of big things.

He has been having a heck of a time finding the Witch Festival masks, so when I got an extra this weekend of course I mailed it to him. I figured it was the least I could do, he gives so much to everyone.

Not ten minutes later I get a message with THANK YOU and an assortment of Kuta and dreugh wax and tempering alloys. He got offended when I tried to refuse.

We will never be able to pay him back. He won't let us catch up!

Don't worry, the game will reward you with XP or AP, altruism goes a long way in ESO.
For example I was once at DC high rock facing down a red zerg with a bunch of other players, I threw down some caltrops which dispersed them a bit but also pushed them further from our gates, I was ok due to long range abilities but saw the other players were struggling, so I swapped out one of my best abilities for propelling shield so the other players could gain range.
I think I got about 40k AP or XP afterwards :)
We also would never have defeated the enemy players without US ALL having range so win win win...

If someone asks me for an item to research, normally I'll just give it to them free.

However, lately I've had people ask me to make them CP 160 gear (entire armor sets with full enchantments) and then suggest they'll just pay me for the materials. No thanks. Buy the materials yourself and give them to me and I'll make you the gear. Not going to spend my time crafting it plus running around to guild traders buying materials.

    Let's see.... this week I:

    (1) gave 5000g and advice about the Witches Festival to 2 level 6 people I ran into on Behtnik
    (2) stopped to help newbies survive crazy stuff they'd gotten themselves into
    (3) gave away purple Shalk's jewelry to someone trying to trade extraordinarily valuable Spriggan's stuff trying to complete there set
    (4) mailed people 200 butterfly wings and small game that seemed oddly frantic about getting these mats ASAP

Can't even remember all the weird things I helped people with, total strangers. Not everyone in this game is an 445hat.

I do stuff like this all the time, people wanting to trade masks from festival, sending pots and foods. I don't see the point in not helping when you can within reason.

Had a guy in my guild help me get the rest of the motifs I needed, later he was asking to buy wax. I sent him 45 of them. He was all kinds of appreciative. All this was before I was in a guild with him. If it makes mine or their experience better so be it.

Had people send motifs that I needed without charge, made my day. All I can say is pay it forward.

Maybe we can start a RAK DAY once a month?

I always give out things I don't need to new players all my motifs, recipes even purple gear otherwise i only sell it to a vendor for pennies so if i can help out someone I will because what goes around comes around.

I can't list or remember all the things I've done but I like to help when I can, both in game and real life because life sucks and we can all use a kind hand sometimes.

I do miss being able to heal fugitives though...last time I did that after 1T I got such a massive bounty that it's no longer fun or feasible for me to do so.

I saw a player that wished for a quick death on the side of the road leading into the Mournhold Undaunted Enclave, so I gave it to him o:)

In all seriousness though, I try and help people out as much as I can. If you give me the mats, I'll craft you anything free of charge, I give out WW and Vampire bites every week. Gave away so many Hallojack motif pages (got the complete book on 5 different characters and still counting up those pages). Help anyone shouting for help in chat, like all the world bosses that are actually a challenge (finally found a few that weren't just annoying high HP damage sponges).

The only thing I don't help with is people that just expect you to craft something for them with absolutely no info on what they want, want it upgraded and don't have any mats at all for it. People take too much of an advantage at that point that I've lost all patience with it.

Yeah, I got HJ motifs and recipes coming out my ears - filling up a few hundred slots on my backup account. I cannot believe people are paying for them. I traded a pumpkin mask for a scarecrow mask last night just because the guy I PUG'd with said he had not been able to get one and I had a couple extra of each.

I don't spend a lot of time in PVP but I will res anyone who dies near me and go and help anyone I see in a fight. Usually for me it is just giving away soul gems, repair kits and food/potions to strangers I am running dungeons with, through group finder, that makes me feel good because they do not expect it.

IDK if people actually like my butting in or not, but I've been practicing as a healer by running around different locations and healing groups I find in dungeons/at dolmens/etc as I come across them! Especially low level players.

I've also been giving away different motifs and gold at random, and I've lately been porting people all over Tamriel (it's mostly been low level players) and bodyguarding/healing them as they get to where they need to go.

    It's fun!

On my first month of ESO a year ago, my AD toon was hunting delves and such into blue enemy territory in Cyrodiil. For some reason had the idea to take on a dolmen by myself there....Inexperienced me was having a tough time, but making though it...

When I got to the boss, about three experienced players from another alliance showed up. I thought I was done for - they'd kill me for sure and that difficult fight would have been for nothing...But they actually helped me fight the boss, then went on their way... I thought it was so nice!

I did get ganked about 10 minutes later at some other spot though, haha.

PUG Vet FG farming the other night.

At the end of Dreugh King, there was actually a swap of gear sets happening. PUGged for sets a couple dozen times by now and this is the first time that people are trading sets. For free. Most players will link the item in chat and ask a ridiculous amount for it. Which is something I completely understand, nonetheless, it's nice when players are offering their loot for those who may still be lacking a piece or three.
Added those guys to my list and it turns out we were all German and the voice chat quickly turned from polite to a litany of hilarious comebacks. That was a blast. A happy coincidence and an added bonus, it was!

I'm not sure why, but that single experience made me invest in a better mic headset. probably because one of them had such clear audio quality, whereas I am constantly being mistaken for a 12-yr old BOY. Here's my delusion thinking a better mic would fix that.

Last week I had 6-7 purple spriggan rings given to random ppl. When I start hunting for spinner gear I guess it will be the same.

Alright, I normally play on reds more than I play with yellows, but lately I have been working with a new build which I am enjoying the hell out of, so I have been on yellows more often than ever. I come across this *amazing* yellow player, who in all fairness I hate when I'm on a red because I have no chance against them on my own, so I tend to keep my distance from them. Last night I was working with the yellows to take down some blues at our keep, but I got over run and died, a second later the dude who I normally hates comes over to my character, tea bags me, revives me and then bows. For the rest of the night we were actually working together. hahaha!
