Templar Healer heavy armor?

Hey guys! I'm an Imperial templar and I've always liked the idea of being tanky. But currently I'm lost. I've put points in Aedric spear for instance, to survive in my PvE quests and soloing in the world. And points in health to have more survivability. But I love healing the most and I'm lost as to whether go magicka/light armor? Would it be more effective? What I know is that I want to heal in dungeons but have also some... self-sustain in PvE. I'm almost level 50+ with her so I wanted to get serious before the true epic levels!
What are my options here guys? Any builds that come to mind? Is it possible to be a heavy armor healer? Stamina or magicka? (if it's even possible to heal with stamina...?)
Like you can see, I'm a big nooblette in this so pardon if I proceed with even more "dumb" questions to your answers. I truly want to be useful in Alliance wars and dungeons (and still survive in PvE world I guess?). ^-^

Mostly light armor is best for magicka DPS or healing builds, but lots of people go 5 light, 1 medium, and 1 heavy for the Undaunted Mettle passive, with the additional benefit of some extra armor.

People run 5 pice light armor 1 piece heavy and 1 piece medium on their dps templar. Usually using heavy and medium armor pieces for the bigger armor rated pieces.

Alot of people like to go that direction for healer because of the magicka regeneration. But in reality they are just closet dps.

If your a self admitted newbie. Go 5 heavy 1 medium and 1 light. Also use resto staff. You heavy attacks restore magicka. You will die less. Nothing you can do if you get 2 shotted bcz your wearing light armor but you can always pop a potion bcz you need an instant boost to magicka.

I don't know much about pvp, as I play that very casually ..took me 2+ years of gameplay to reach First Seargant rank lol

Healing in pve = 5 light, medium, 1 heavy.

Damage Dealing in pve: choose between magicka or stamina

Stamina = 5 medium 1 heavy, 1 light - or in some cases 7 medium.
Magicka = 5 light, 1 medium, 1 heavy.

Now you can start off wearing magicka DD gear, if you want to be a healer and you are still levelling. Once you hit cp160, then you need to worry about farming special sets in dungeons that will buff your team.

wear 5 Julianos pieces and the rest Torugs pact (including resto staff & destro staff).

The medium and heavy parts should be of the following: Head, Chest, Legs (because these pieces provide more armor than the other pieces for some reason.
Julianos requires 6 traits researched for the individual item, before you can craft it ...but others can make it for you.
Torugs Pact requires 3 traits researched for the individual item, before you can craft it ...but others can make it for you.
All armor + weapons should be training trait.

Attribute Points = all in magicka
Enchantments = all magicka
Mundus Stone = The Atronach (change once you reach gear cap at cp160)

You can get away with being a heavy-armor healer in pve, but then you have to take on a Tank-Healer role - basically you do two roles and join groups with 3 DD's... due to that, you will not be able to buff & do as much resource management as you could with a dedicated Healer or Tank setup.
If you want to be a Tank-Healer, wait till you have reached cp160, because heavy armor is purely good for tanking and your dps will be poopy, so the solo content will take longer than needed... it's a really bad choice for levelling.

@Drdeath20 people wear light for the sake of spell penetration & crit, the regen and magicka cost reduction is purely a side bonus.

I've been playing my Breton Templar as a heavy armor (tanky) healer in PVE and PVP. My setup is as follows:

Armor is 5H, 1M, 1L
5x Kags
2x Engine Guardian
2x Torug's Pact SnB
1x Random Gold Resto
3x Willpower Jewelry (Spell damage enchants)
Atro mundus

PVE Skills:
SnB Bar = Degeneration, Purifying Light, Repentence, Sweeps, Radiant Glory
Resto Bar = Channeled Focus, Extended Ritual, Breath of Life, Healing Springs, Blazing Spear

PVP Skills:
SnB Bar = Degeneration, Purifying Light, Repentence, Sweeps, Toppling Charge
Resto Bar = Channeled Focus, Extended Ritual, Breath of Life, Aurora Javelin, Radiant Glory

I'm sure this isn't the optimal setup, but I've been having fun with it. Feels survivable in both PVE and PVP for me, allows me to support my group, and do a little damage at the same time.
