Oh yeah, it's a brilliant piece of kit and costs only fraction of what other brands cost, yet beats them hardware wise and has unique gaming-only features no other mobile/portable device has.
Another good thing I like is if you buy games from nVidia Hub, you get a steam key to use on your PC for free as well, which I find is quite neat.
And you don't just have to do gaming on it, you can just use it as an ordinary android tablet, but couple it with the great specs it has - you have a perfect portable multimedia device. I've used Samsung's, HTC's, Nexuses, various windows devices and this is by far the best both as a tablet and a portable gaming device.

im definitely gonna get one, and mobile mmo are a thing, pretty much it is a tablet with controllers that can be docked to switch to the tv.

    the screen is the console.

I don't think it is a gimmick as more and more places getting mobile games. Japan is pretty big on it, and Pokemon go was pretty huge.

could eso be on it? i don't see why not. you can remote play ff14 on a psvita.

    tech is improving.

Nintendo really need to release a new console that isn't aimed at Pokemon obsessed children. The novelty of the Wii wore off too quickly. I dunno I love Nintendo but they can't compete with Microsoft and Sony so I can't see ESO on any of their consoles

You mean like.. the NVIDIA Shield?

NVIDIA is actually working with Nintendo on this project. And since ESO is the least demanding game in my library (no joke, i can run 4k @100 FPS) I can assume that it wouldnt be hard to implement.

The challenge obviously would be the constant internet connection. It defeats the purpose of being mobile if you have to be connected to something reliable .

I need portable Skyrim in my life. And ESO would be awesome, though I don't think they'd do it. I mean it'd be great and I really hope they do, but something tells me they probably won't. Time will tell, though.

Eso on Nintendo, Nintendo!!! Nintendo haven't done anything innovative, interesting, new, uplifting, impressive or noteworthy since the early 1990s. A company that hits every use of its name on YouTube with a copyright claim because they are terrified of reviews :D

It's definitely pretty interesting to me and I hope it gets proper 3rd party support this time, although I hope Nintendo is ready to try taking on an mmo on their console since everyone else has one already. Maybe they'll refine and port the Monster Hunter MMO to the switch since it's part handheld and console?

Nintendo often fails at marketing and can't directly compete with other home consoles, but they've been the king of handhelds for years. If you think GBA, DS and 3DS aren't noteworthy, then you're terrifyingly ignorant and there's no saving you.

Both sides of the argument of whether or not Elder Scrolls Online should be on the Nintendo Switch are perfectly valid and shouldn't be discredited.

I would like to remind people, though, that a lot of the same people who are targeted by the Nintendo Switch's "First Look" promo are the same people who LOVED games like Skyrim and Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The millenials, in other words, like myself. You know...the people who grew up playing games on PC and Nintendo 64, GameCube, PS1, PS2, and Xbox 360, but found almost every console to be stale so far this gen. Nintendo Switch is the first console in a LONG time to focus on targeting our core demographic once again. You want to know the funny part, though? A LOT of millennials don't even know ESO exists! *le gasp*

The concept of a hybrid video game console to the likes of Nintendo Switch with detachable controls that allow gamers to play however they want, wherever they want is an extremely innovative solution to a major problem both gamers and game developers have been faced with, which is the rapid way we've effectively hit a wall with games graphically. If you made me play Tomb Raider and compare the differences between the remaster and the original game on Xbox 360/PS3, I'd barely notice the differences, even as a graphic designer, when the game is out into motion. Same with Skyrim.

Hybrid video game consoles add a new type of excitement that reinvigorates the gaming industry and, frankly, 'is' the future of the gaming industry, in my opinion. This focus hardware developers have been putting on 4K, 3D, VR, touch controls, and motion controls all seem way too gimkicky to me at the moment.

Switch is a spiritual successor to the NVIDIA Shield, which had no problems running ESO.

Given the tech specifications leaked thus far, one can assume the Nintendo Switch has the capability to play 1080p/4K games at 60/30 FPS (respectively) while docked, 720p/60 on the go. It has the capability of receiving many third-party PC ports due to it using an custom NVIDIA Tegra-based API that makes it just around the power of an Xbox One, which is insane for a hybrid video game console that can be taken on the go with you in the same vein as a portable.

Of course it can run ESO. People act like ESO is a demanding game. Newsflash: It isn't.

The processing capabilities also look fine for the Nintendo Switch as they aren't stuck using IBM PowerPC architecture any longer, which was quite possibly the worst, longest running contract they could have made back in the 90s/early 00s.

Nintendo is working with NVIDIA, so there is no worry for CPU and GPU processing capabilities, especially on the GPU front as it will be part of the latest in the GeForce series of graphics cards. One can assume NVIDIA will pat their own back and divulge proper specs closer to the Nintendo Switch's full reveal early next year. The real issue for the console I find is going to be RAM.

About 4 GBs of RAM seemed to be Nintendo's target a year ago for the Nintendo Switch (third-party sources' words, not mine), but it seems like third-parties didn't take to that well. It seems like that number is outdated now if Bethesda is interested in developing for it as that means the specs are likely not finalized yet. Bethesda isn't exactly known for putting their name on third-party lists for underpowered consoles (like the Wii and Wii U).

TESO barely plays on console I don't even know how bad this game would probably be on Nintendo either way ESO shouldn't even be allowed to be sold on console its so broken Nintendo should probably play it safe by avoiding Elder Scrolls Online now if Nintendo got lets say Final Fantasy 14: Realm Reborn that would probably do better on a Nintendo console but Sony would probably never allow FF14 on Nintendo similar to the fact its not on Xbox One.

Square Enix is who has developing/publishing rights to Final Fantasy XIV. Not Sony. But I think FFXIV on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One would be great, if there is still opportunity to generate more sales from it.

It's really all a matter of popularity nowadays for whether or not games make it to your platform. Both the Wii U and Xbox One have smaller audiences compared to the PlayStation 4 that don't satisfy the core target demographic of FFXIV. Hence why it never came to those platforms.

Square Enix is one of the third-parties supporting the Nintendo Switch, so anything FF, KH, or DQ is within the realm of possibility for the platform in the future.

If only I could say the same about Sega and Phantasy Star Online 2 for us in the West, though.

I don't know why people take this attitude with stuff they don't like. Just because 'you' may not like it doesn't mean other people are prone to think the same way.

Lots of people who play on Nintendo consoles are huge fans of action/adventure RPGs. So if Bethesda and ZeniMax Online Studios both have an opportunity to sell their software to a large, previously untapped market, why shouldn't they?

Seems like it would be expensive. With xbox or PC you only have to smash a keyboard or maybe a monitor when ESO screws you over. With that you have to break the whole system.

To be fair, if a console is too underpowered, developers just won't bother cutting up their games to make them fit - some might even be impossible to port. This was one of the many reasons why Wii U was such an unmitigated disaster (and was an issue with their earlier consoles too).

Nintendo is also crap at bringing their online multiplayer to modern standards, which could be a problem for MMO devs.

I'm planning to get one when it comes out (or rather shortly afterwards for my birthday). Mainly for the new Zelda game but also Pokemon, Smash Bros, probably Mario too. Basically I buy Nintendo consoles for their 1st party games. But as an added benefit the fact that they don't try for the best possible graphics means developers have to look for other ways to make their games appealing. There's some pretty interesting Wii and DS/3DS games (I never got a Wii U so I'm not sure about that) which were never going to wow anyone with screenshots but are fairly unique and a lot of fun to play. Things like A Shadow's Tale, Endless Ocean, Another Code, Scribblenauts and Okami (which admittedly started out on PS2). I'm hopeful that will happen again with the Switch.

I wouldn't get ESO on it simply because I already have it on PC and I'm not interested in buying another copy just to start from scratch. I can do that for free by switching to the US servers.

Lmao. Thank you for the funniest thread I have read in a while. But, I guess it IS possible. IF they can squeeze these specs into a hand held..hehehe...

[i]The Elder Scrolls Online Recommended Requirements
CPU: Quad Core 2.3GHz or equivalent processor
    CPU Speed: Info
    RAM: 4 GB
    OS: Windows 7 64-bit or Windows 8 64-bit
Video Card: DirectX 11 compliant video card with 2GB of RAM (NVIDIA GeForce 560 Ti / ATI Radeon HD 6950 or better)
    Sound Card: Yes

Yet it can handle Skyrim Remastered, which is actually almost enough to make me buy it.
