To buy your way to the top, it would take 1+ years and $10,000+ USD. Its not even worth the money, or the time. lol

This is why I think it is funny when people start yelling eso is p2w. This game is so far from p2w when comparing to games that truly are p2w.

They work well or they wouldnt be everywhere. Simple logic
Just because it makes money for the company, doesnt mean it works well.
I don't play MMOs that have this gambling box feature, i have before. I really REALLY do not like it. It's a waste of time/money/resources the company could be utilizing to fix already broken in game features.

A company making no money has no manpower. Money makes your game run

This game and WoW pretty much. While you can exchange your real life dollars for gold legitimately in WoW you can't buy your way to the top as the OP puts it. The best gear isn't sold, you have to complete content for it.

Not quite to the effect of others though. You wouldnt be gaining in game currency because you have an unbound rare item you can post to a store.

That's not true at all.
You can buy all the Obliterum and all the crafted gear for every character slot (including trinkets) and upgrade every slot to item level 850 with gold you purchased with real life money. When 7.1 releases on October 25th, you can upgrade them to item level 855. This puts you in full raid tier gear by buying gold. Yes you have to play the game enough to get enough Blood of Sargeras to do the upgrades, but you can get enough with 2 days of skinning.
You can buy your way to "nearly" top tier, but fully geared for Mythic Raids.
On top of that, you can buy a brand new account, buy a character boost or just use the one that comes with the expansion, play for 3 days getting blood of sargeras and leveling the last 10 levels, buy gold and use it for all your gear and have a character doing mythic raids in full 850 (or 855 on the 25th) gear in 4 or 5 days at most. This is possible because of spending real life money, so yes..pay to win.

You're fooling yourself if you don't think people will pay ingame gold for gifted crowns.

I don't agree with this personally. I would love to be able to buy a mount for a friend on their birthday. As long as all the consumables are less powerful than crafted ones, and the other items are cosmetic, and no items can be sold for in game gold, I'm fine with gifting.
Even if someone was purchasing items for a character with a stolen credit card, It still can't impact the economy or character strength.
Who are you giving mounts too besides me?!?!?!

Still it's allowed, and I'm not even going to talk about the items in the cash shop which provide other advantages....
