Back in the old days we used to farm one month or even two, for the gear we wanted/needed. ESO is already very casual oriented and getting a good gear for end game content barely needs any grinding, don't make it into some Hello Kitty Online (yeah, it does exist HKO).
It is not only vMA RNG, in general it is terrible in this game.
At least here in ESO another player cannot loot your gear..
Just imagine farming for days/weeks/months to get your gear then I kill you in PvP and then loot your corpse of your VMA weapon... We could do that in Asherons Call.. So be happy you only have to deal with RNG..
Also I will give you some credit here.. The RNG might be a little strong in this game, but it makes finally getting that sharpened weapon that much better.
I only say that for VMA. If anyone comes in here crying about drops from dungeons then I will just laugh at them! There is nothing wrong with dungeon drops.. I have geared out all my characters and yes it took some time to get the full divines/Infused exactly the way I wanted it,but that is why we are all here.. To kill monsters and take their stuff! Just because I cannot get exactly what I want after the first kill or even the 2 or 3rd shouldn't bother any of us..
We are all here because we have extra time on our hands after all.....

I had to run 100+ FG1 to get my BiS Viper schield. I literlly can solo the Dungeon on Vet. Why make players Go through that tiresome Grind. You can't tell me anybody enjoys that. If you do, something seriously wrong with you.
Just stop talking until you have a valuable argument.

If someone did enjoy that or at the very least didn't mind it, who are you to say something is wrong with them? Shoulda run that dungeon with a group of friends, 4x the chance at the shield. I also don't buy your 100+ claim. Just stop talking until you have a valuable argument.

In the end, the drop rate was something like 12.5% for each trait in the loot table, which showed some of the RNG claims by players were extremely exaggerated.
I wish @ZOS_RichLambert would publish the same weapon/trait %drop data for vMA. I can only assume these RNG claims are really as bad as some of the players who claim "ive run vMA +1000 times without a sharpened inferno", or these stories are extremely over exaggerated as @ZOS_RichLambert proved in the Undaunted chest drop rates thread.

As a tank I'd rather have a set bonus than hp on piercing strike.

I have many clears...if i didn't take 5 minutes breaks between rounds to walk around, get a drink, etc i'd have higher scores...the content is more about just being patient and learning how to deal with multiple mechanics at a time rather then it being hard.
that being said I am nearing the end of my runs as i doubt i'll ever get a usable weapon. My Magic Sorc has received more Powered Swords then should even be possible...useless Swords and Shields make up 90% of my chest drops..I have only seen one Destro Staff...a Defending Ice Staff and that was before they polluted the loot table.
I have a friend who has been on the weekly every week since a week after Orsinium launch and probably has close to 1000 clears and has never seen a Maelstrom Inferno Staff in a usable trait...thats just ridiculous...I don't even think you can call it RNG at that point...he has pretty much given up on the arena completely. Thats a shame too.
I don't think people should get their weapon on the 1st clip, but there has to be some balance here...i'd rather not get a weapon drop at all from the last chest then to get an staff in a useless trait I can't use...i'd rather get nothing...its more infuriating to get a useless weapon then to get no weapon at all...just my 2 cents.
I'll most likely clear VMA again tonight and get another Powered Sword to add to my collection...I have gotten and deconed a lot of those....and those Well-Fitted sheilds....par for the course for me.

@Birdovic hi muffin, sorry I didn't reply earlier.... and now that I know you've played BDO, I've got a legit reason to punish you@failkiwib16_ESO
I will never understand whats so great about BDO, altmer.

One day we even rolled new noobs in the opposite faction(everyone was cp 400+) only to fight in other campaigns and laugh a LOT! lol
Well, these guys never cared for maelstrom but each one of them went more or less the same path in different occasions...starting maelstrom, staying whole days there, getting the weapon (always the wrong one with **** traits) and soon after....leaving the game...
Now i dont blame maelstrom for that, but everyone is going the same way, is anyone else experiencing the same thing?
I love vMSA
Really challenging content, requires a lot of time and patience, but is very rewarding and makes you feel accomplished when you finally beat it
Then the downwards slope starts. You complete it again, and beat your last score
You complete it again, in under an hour
You complete it again, and get on leaderboards
By that point there's not much else to strive for except the weapons which are quite frankly some of the most broken rng in any game I have ever played
I no longer play vMSA regularly, even though I don't have BiS weapons with perfect traits, I refuse to play it until they add a token system or fix the god awful rng somewhow
