How lesser RNG would it be if the sets would drop directly in a dungeon, compared to dropping from a chest? It would only save some little time (which you need to return to Undaunted Enclave to open the chest, yes), but the RNG will still be the same
Actually, this would be a huge change two reasons. Yes there would still be RNG, but if say Grothdarr shoulders dropped in VOM with the helm somewhere, it would really narrow your search. Getting a helm in a good trait is not terribly hard right now, because you know where to go. This would eliminate the type of shoulder from the RNG table (you would still have to deal with weight and trait). Also, if it was in a dungeon that was subject to BOG drops, well, that would instantly change things.
You are right that it's done on purpose and wont change. They give you half the carrot relatively easy and make you grind for the last bite.0 -

Oh and I support these chest.. If not then everyone would be decked out and nobody would be running dungeons within 2 weeks..Anything useful that players are wanting added into the game all fall under the category of "Yer ruinin my 'mersion!" Sallington0 -

✭RNG on shoulders really sucks, I got lucky when 1T launched and got divines skoria and infernal guardian from like 70 keys, but I'm still hoping for divines iceheart and then maybe I could try my luck with chokethorn.
I know I'm not in the majority but for people like me it sucks even more because I only play magicka toons, so stuff like selenes, krag'hs or tremorscale are not really useful to me, hell I think I even get more divines/impen stuff from stam or tank sets than the magicka ones I'm actually looking for.
I would gladly trade a set amount of keys for a shoulder of desired weight and trait, even if it's a high amount because that would mean that there would be a secure way of getting what you want. At this rate ZOS will probably update the item cap to 180 or something before I even get the shoulders I'm looking for.0
