What amazes me is that they give gold every few steps of quest and then the loot at the end is terrible. They could have given less gold through the quests (where it makes no sense to just have gold given out) and give better rewards for major quests.

Yes these main story quest rewards are very dated and I apologies for making goofy video but I was in a funny mood today . Maybe it's time with the One Tamriel to be updating these main story rewards a bit .

Maybe @ZOS_RichLambert could be so kind as to upgrading them from green to maybe blue at least . I imagine even a set piece would be nice to new players experiencing the quests for the first time .

Yes, its been a longtime running joke that the quest rewards are ridiculous. I mean, I friggin turned into a Golden God and slew Molag Bal! My reward was Cadwell giving me a purple staff that sucked.... I mean, really?

Quest rewards should be things like Momentos, Dwemer Furniture if a Dwemer quest, A Pet if you saved and animal. And if they are going to reward gear like armors and weapons then is should be a costume type reward i.e. a weapon skin, like we have hat skins and stuff like that.

Wait, is this video pre-One Tamriel?

Because I know they did update at least some major quests. They will now give you special named items that are part of the sets that drop in that zone. Noticed it in the patch notes, plus received some already in Deshaan.

[Edit] If this is post-One Tamriel maybe this quest should give a set piece.. since obviously it's the greatest treasure ever

Did they ? I am not sure if this was before or after as I just started the Cadwells silver because ai accidentally did the gold areas before . I am still getting these kind of rewards in the EP area but some are set pieces now . It could of been right before One Tamriel launch I recorded this one .

Yeah they did. Check the patch notes as I believe it's only "major" quests that give sets pieces. Some smaller ones of the main alliance quest and side quests I think still give junk.

I wonder if anybody mid-level or above ever found any quest-revarded gear useful. Quests should reward purple and gold refine mats, filled soul gems, rare purple and gold ingredients and motifs. And of course, all the things @nimander99 have described above.

Lemme save you the time yes the major quests are rewarding set items but they are still rolling prosperous/training for the most part. Played a new Templar through at the start of One Tamriel the rewards are better for the most part the traits not so much lol.

With the direction of the game, i.e. One Tamriel and the Collections System plus Champion Points it just really doesn't make sense any more that the GREATEST TREASURE EVER is a pair of green boots that give you 200 hp's and 2% extra gold... Lets do some maths, 2% of 10 gold is... 10.02 gold pieces? Seriously, that is the greatest treasure I could imagine, dunno bout you guys.

With housing coming up I think the quest rewards need to change, I mean, this is an Elder Scrolls RPG! Skyrim pretty much always gave gold for quests and if you did a Daedric Quest you usually ended up with something unique like the Fork of Horripilation or the Mask of Clavicus Vile. Now those two items as cosmetics for head and weapon would be epic.

Could you imagine dual wielding Forks in Cyrodiil? EPIC!

Speaking of gold making no sense, is anyone else bothered when you do the quest for Random Dirt-Poor Peasant and the quest reward is...gold? Like I did one the other day in the Alik'r Public Dungeon - fellow is dead, loot the place so his destitute wife-now-widow can pay off the debt collectors, after which she...rewards me with 400 gold? Lady if you had that kind of money, why didn't you just pay off your debt in cash?
