    You're just mistaken.

Most forum management tools allow mods/admins to edit the PHP code of the post or entire page (obviously only if they have permissions to do so). Which would also include editing topics and text without actually making or editing the text the normal way on the forum itself but via the moderation page/php editor where you practically can change anything you want and however you want.
Not saying they do such things, but it's not impossible and if said mod has the rights, he can indeed edit posts without having the "edited" tag appear on the bottom. That is applied automatically only if you post or edit via normal means, not via php/page editor.

Question is - whether it's true or not, however I won't side with ZoS - they have a history of lying on numerous accounts. Most likely they just did a ninja-edit hoping nobody would notice, but someone always notices...

You could edit the PHP, which I'm sure that they've done, this is how you get specific appearances and such.

But you can't edit a topic by modifying the code of that page because the page doesn't really exist. It's generated on the fly from a template, and the actual data contained in the thread from a database.

They -could- directly modify the contents of the databse...but why?
I see absolutely zero reason why they would lie about this particular thing.

It's fun to go tin-foil hat every now and again, but it ain't productive, and it's almost never true.

Give me a good reason why they would lie in this particular instance, and go through the trouble of circumventing their own forum software, then maybe I'll consider aliens did it.

We stated earlier in this thread that the post wasn't edited, and the sentence in question still appears. To avoid any further conspiracy theories, we're going to close this thread.
