Pugs and item trading in dungeons

What do you consider a fair price for buying an item off of a pug group member? If they already have that ring or item, it's basically decon to them, but I always get asked to pay whatever I think it's worth and I have trouble answering that question.

Do you think it's fair to ask for money from a group member to give them something that you would have vendored?

Is anyone else out there offering 5k per item that they want or am I being ripped off?

I only run with guild members/friends, and we give away anything we're not using for free.
Get a guild. Profit.

I haven't been pugging group dungeons lately... I've been with friends so I'm not entirely sure. Personally, if it's straight up decon for me, I would just give it to whoever wanted it. If someone sends me something I attempt to sneak in a bit of gold (200 to 1k depending) but have learned some people mail it back to me later lol.

Haven't been running instances with Pugs, but I did meet up with a group farming 2 world bosses the other day. I mentioned looking for some certain sets pieces and throughout my time there many folks would offer me the pieces (I even ended up mostly with the traits I wanted). Same went for me, some folks wanted pieces for a different set that dropped there... so I just handed them over.

I usually give away anything I don't need for free. However it depends on the item. Sharpened weapons are difficult to grind.

If I don't want/need it and it's BoP I'll just give it away.

Yes, since the OP specifically asked about PUGs in dungeons, and the items you find there are BoP, they're of limited value to the finder if they don't need them.

So I guess a reasonable price would be the mat's value, which is e.g. around 60g for a blue CP160 medium armor piece.

I selling stuff from farm runs, however some people finding price as 1 potato is too expensive.

I'll usually give stuff away if I don't need it and someone asks ahead of time. I've been farming Darkshade 1 the past few days and have been giving away anything I don't need. Too bad I don't find many like minded people, I'm after one weapon in there and nobody seems to want to give it up when it drops, even for gold.

I give away all my training/prosperous gear for free and sell the hard to obtain items to pugs. If you are a friend/guildie you get anything I don't want for free.

I charge nothing to give away bop items that I don't need and I won't pay for them. People who want high amouts of money for items they personally can't use, risk to end up on my ignore list.

I typically give items away for free, although I do prioritize recipients based upon need and how helpful they are to others.

The other day we were running normal Cradle with a PUG tank and he mentioned liking the tanking set so I threw all the pieces I picked up at him. He tried to offer me something in return but I turned him down. At the end, turns out he picked up a few pieces of Gossamer including an Arcane ring, which are now in my bank. He's also now a member of the guild.

So I don't feel it's right to charge people for things, especially Bind on Pickup things. If it's not Bind on Pickup, sometimes that is a different story, although I still like gifting those away too.

I usually don't PUG but if I do and someone in the group need badly, if he/she proved his/her worth during the gameplay and is something entirely out of scope to me, I have no reasons to not give away.

The same way I don't always give stuff freely after Trials with guildies. I already charged 120k for a golden VO ring I didn't need.

I also even held back a sharpened VO dagger I also didn't need just because the person needing was rude to me a few days earlier.

But I also gave away a resto staff to dome other guildie for free.

Depends very much...

I dont pug dungeons but in the cases i do i give stuff i dont need for free and if they ask for gold if i need something i just say no ty then while thinking "shove it up your *insert word here* you greedy *insert word here*"

Ive been pugging a bunch. Havent had a problem getting or giving anything away at no cost. If the person doesnt need the item it is useless for them. I guess i wouldnt mind giving them 1k or something but not more then that.

People do seem to trade monster helms which is strange. If i didnt want the divine/infused one i got i dont want your well-fitted one but what ever

Now if there were two people that wanted it i might ask for a price.

Yes, you've defo been over paying. Even 1K is a very generous offer for unwanted BoP gear. At most its worth the value of the purple grain solvent, elegant lining etc that you might get from decon. If someone wants payment, offer them 1 x whatever temper, tanner or resin you would get from it.

There shouldnt be any price to those items, if you don't want them and they do. He/she worked for it jus as much as you... Just that RNG screwed it up!

I have been charged quite alot more for bop items than 5k. Was charged 30k for a monster helm after pretty much carrying the person who charged me.

100% dependent on the item in question. No secret that I use grouploot to see what is dropping for people (as do a lot of people on PC). Usually, I have a handful of specific things I am after in each dungeon. For most armor, I have no issue offering 10-50k depending on how much I need it, the offer going up as I get more of the set. Take Leviathan for example, only thing I need now is divines gloves. I wouldn't hesitate to spend 50k to end the grind, but probably wouldn't have paid that in my first run. With pugs, I usually offer 10-20k for an item before they have a chance to post it in group chat, and I rarely get turned down. I offered a pug 50k for the last piece of BSW i needed, and they nearly wet themselves. Haha.

If it's a group of people I know, then usually money does not get exchanged, unless the item is unusually rare.

Weapons are a whole different animal. They are by far the hardest grind because there is so much BS in the loot table that doesn't make sense, and they only drop in chests or the last boss. If I see a BIS weapon drop that I want, I have no issues starting offers in the 6 figure range. There are a handful of drops I would pay 250k for in a heartbeat.

I live the pug life a lot. And I have always had people just offer items to me that they can't use. The other day someone gave me a divine monster helm that I can use on an alt.

I also always give away anything that I can't use instead of just vendor it.
