Crown only is making gold based on items that are otherwise unobtainable in game. I WILL NOT support crown only items that can be used to make gold in game. It would be the same in my eyes as offering crown only weapons and armor. The gain for weapons and armor might be to kill things but it is also gold. This is taking what should be in game play things outside the sphere of the game. Giving advantage to those willing to purchase things outside of game to make gold in game. This makes the idea very poor form as the idea is to get people to PLAY....not just buy. If all there is to it is buy crown stuff there is no challenge and no reason to play.
As a crafter motifs are part of how one makes gold. You have just introduced a style that I can not create without a real world cash purchase..and even if I bought the motif (which I refuse to do) I would not be able to make with a natural in game mechanic I would have to purchase mimic stones in order to make which also have to be bought from crown store.
The whole idea is wrong....just wrong. For months my only reason to play was to get my 400k exp and earn gold for motifs I could not get by doing the content myself....was mostly a solo person see and so dro mathra for example would have had hard time getting as it was a trial only drop. I could however pay someone with gold for the item in question. This crown only stuff does not even allow for this sort of an option.

Step 1 buy motif
Step 2 charge in game gold for the items you make
or
Step 1 buy motif
Step 2 make items in that style with mimic stones also bought for real money
Step 3 deco those and sell style stone
or
Aka Spend real money -> convert to in game money
Aka P2W
Aka ANOTHER lie from Zos who said all motif will be obtainable in game
Aka they already lied saying the motifs in game will be obtainable in a painless manner and not be designed to enter the game in a expensive/slow to obtain way to drive crown store sales (Look at the prices of the ones that are easier to get in store vs the ones that had little to no or a late show in the store)
This is a huge step towards p2w and I was only just telling my friend a few days ago how happy I was with them not going p2w... that I was surprised that the worse was just expensive in game motifs which caused a huge pain to get in game to draw in sales irl... but this is unbelievable.
I am just waiting to have it confirmed.. Confirm you are making it only crown store obtainable and never in game so I can just quit..
ALSO to the people stupidly thinking this is ok....
What do you think they are doing? They are obviously preparing to make a future move towards all new motifs being mimic stone reliable... you think they will stop here? All the new sets or MOST of them will have a small supply of style stones on release and after a while they will all be gone or worst SOOOOO much in game due to the rare amounts of them and EVERYONE will HAVE to buy crowns to get the styles they want in the future..
So this is a no brainer... this is a p2w move and a step towards crafting being PAY to make... Which I might remind people they also said would never happy...
I love the elder scrolls but if this is confirmed I AM OUT.
EDIT: Oh also this is coming from someone who makes $1500 a week and could easily buy this BUT WONT.. and someone who in game has close to 10m gold and can obtain hundreds of these style stones easily and will NOT be effected by this if for some reason I chose to stay... this is not about me since I would be fine this is about the people who join the game late or those who cant prepare and shouldnt HAVE to prepare to be able to craft in the future...
ZOS has lied again and worse is moving to a obvious p2w

Yes I have the crowns for it.
Not okay with it simply because this is the death of Master Crafters having all styles available to them through hard in-game effort. Chances are this wont be the last we see of things just like this. Lock more and more behind pay walls and bye Felicia.

Ever notice there's no achievement for it either? Well that's why.

I am no longer excited for frostcaster.
'How many of these people who are saying its a great deal because of the mimic stones actually bought mimic stones regularly before this exclusive motif came with them? Talk about frogs in a pot! All this great deal does is insure you will always have to buy mimic stones to craft this style and all other exclusive styles in the future that are released like this.
The whole history of this game, there has been a way to get every crafting motif and the style mats in game. Only more recently were they introduced as an option for purchase. I have no problem with that, options are great. But now there are new motifs going straight to the store and not available in game at all. If this trend continues, after a while, the crown store will become an integral part of your in game experience if you are one of the people who cares about your character's appearance or being able to call yourself a master crafter who can craft every style. If you don't care about that stuff I'm very happy for you. I know you don't care, you don't have to keep saying it.
But but but, say the shills, stop asking for things for freeee! The only people getting anything for free in this game are the people who had someone buy the game on their behalf and who didn't spend another dime. That's not the vast majority of us. Now in another year or so when this game goes F2P (my estimate), you'll have a good argument for this being necessary to support the game. We're not there yet though.

It's a purely cosmetic item. It has no implications on game balance. In a game without a subscription fee, that is exactly the sort of item most appropriate for the cash shop.
In fact, let's hope that ZOS is successful with this, that they make plenty of money on awesome-looking cosmetics. We want them to make money. We don't want them to turn into another Archeage/ Neverwinter pay-to-win game, where the cash shop is the clear path to making your character powerful.
ZOS has a very reasonable B2P model. Even as a subscriber, I am happy about that, as it preserves the integrity of the gameplay.
Support the game you play, devs gotta eat too.
