Stamina usage while blocking

    My setup
    Fortress - 36%
    Defensive Stance - 8%
    Shadow Ward - 8.7%
    Sturdy - 16%
    Shield Play - 0%

    My heuristic
    Block Cost % person = .36+.08+((.087+.16)/2))
    Block Cost % person = .5635
    Block Cost person = 2160 * (1.00-.5635)
    Block Cost person = 942.84

    @paulsimonps heuristic
    Block Cost paul = ((2160*((100-8.7)/100)*((100-8*4)/100)*((100-36)/100))-(0))*((100-8)/100)
    Block Cost paul = 2160 * .913 * .68 * .64 * .92
    Block Cost paul = 789.59

    Actual in game block cost

    @hrothbern @paulsimonps @Asayre

    I was messing up the percentage of block cost via Sturdy when using @paulsimonps heuristic.

    Block Cost paul (corrected) = 2160 * .913 * .84 * .64 * .92
    Block Cost paul (corrected) = 975.37

    Okay, one question I have now @hrothbern is about the change that occurred.

    I used my heuristic to find block cost back during the IC update and it still works today to the same precision.

    How can the block cost formula have been changed while the precision of calculating block cost via my heuristic stays the same. From my perspective, via my heuristic, nothing has changed since IC. That is nothing has changed since IC unless it was changed, but then reverted for the One Tamriel update.

    Thank you so much for helping me with these questions.

    @hrothbern , I think that your last post answers my question.

    You have to convert 203 to a percent.

    203/2160 * 100 = 9.4 % roughly

    Can you test block cost at least one time today please. I'm interested to see if you can reach the 127 number again.

    I'm going to test my number again and post it here for you to show me what part I'm doing wrong.

    From today's check:

    this is before hit on block:

    this is after 1 hit on block

    Do you have any heavy armor equipped and points in constitution?
    Because I can!

    This is including heavy armor and constitution,

    It plays however no role
    either the Stamina stat goes down to that 14,275
    or the Constitutions kicks in (with 1,302 in the test set up) and you see that you are hit, but your Stamina stat stays at 100% at 14,402.

    I agree with the block cost formula

    ...... unless that time window of 0.5 second is changed as well !!!

    It still appears that the time window is still 0.5 seconds. I tested this my gathering as many Dreugh as I could outside Stormhaven. CombatMetrics will show all stamina draining events. I did not notice any time difference less than 0.5 seconds.

    Thanks @Asayre ! :)

    And I see from your screenshot how to use CombatMetrics for the drain log.
    My bad that I did not find out earlier.

    So.. with my updated insight in the possibilities of CombatMetrics I went straight to the Forgotten Crypts to gather a bunch of skeletons to hit on my block.

    Live, EU/PC, Forgotten Crypts, against 12 skeletons, NB CP 160, in set up I used in earlier posts here. Calculated Stamina drain 127:

    At timestamp 20.364 you can see a drain of 127 Stamina,
    then 5 hits on block, the last one at time stamp 20.823, just within the 0.5 second time window that would end at 20.864
    and at time stamp 21.027 again a Stamina drain of 127, because of the next block hit outside the window.

    @Asayre , @hrothbern
    Does Alteration Mastery set reduce the cost of the block? If yes how can it be included in the formula?
    Because I can!

    Alteration Mastery doesn't reduce the cost of block to my knowledge @Bashev ,

    @ZOS_RichLambert , I apologize for overreacting to the block cost change. I misunderstood what was happening after talking to one of the other forum members posting here in team speak while using a really broken headset.

    p.s.

    Can Alteration Mastery please reduce block cost? After all, the set claims to reduce all costs. Also, chains still receives the too high too low bug - Christmas is coming up you know!
