I had never played any modern RPG computer games, and around early 2012 I bought an XBox, mainly to watch Netflix on my TV. It came with a free copy of Skyrim, which literally collected dust sitting next to the XBox for several months. One Friday my girlfriend was out of town and I was bored so I decided to give it a try, just for something to do. I slept maybe 4 hours before I had to work on Monday, and was hooked. And that's why I'm here. After playing through on the XBox, I learned of mods for Skyrim, so I built a gaming machine I could hook up to my TV, just to play Skyrim with mods, which got me in to PC gaming.
So yeah, in my opinion, Skyrim is definitely worth it.
FWIW I bought Witcher 3 shortly after it came out ... I've played it maybe 6 hours tops. I played Skyrim for over 600 hours, on PC alone, according to my Steam account, which doesn't include the hundreds of hours I played on the XBox.
Eso is the only ES game I've played out of the series. I'm currently taking a break from ESO but I was thinking up picking up Skyrim remastered for PS4 on the 28th. As someone who never played it do you think it's worth the 60$ price tag? Or at this point are there better RPGs to check out? It's basically between Skyrim and the witcher 3. I'm going to buy one of them. Thanks.
Skyrim is a very good game, but it is not even the best TES, let alone the best RPG.
Are you in any way familiar with the Witcher series? If no, then get Skyrim. Otherwise, I would say get Witcher 3.

As someone who played the Witcher 3, Skryim, Oblivion, Morrowind, and ESO (obviously) I would say this:
- I didnt like the Witcher 3
- Morrowind/Oblivion are the reason why i love the series
- Skyrim is the two former games on steroids, but also more mainstreamed.
- ESO is a very well done spin on the series and i like it most of all.
So, having never played an ES game before ESO, Id say do not play morrowind, it will frustrate you, play both Oblivion and Skyrim. If you dont mind the somewhat dated mechanics and graphics, Oblivion still has an amazing story. Skyrim is the polished version of Oblivion

Yeah, I couldn't play Oblivion because the graphics were blocky and the people looked like dogs.

We are spoiled as a society now with good graphics and 4K. Back when i was a kid, when morrowind and Oblivion was released they were amazing.

I hated The Witcher 3. I couldn't play it for more than 4h. Skyrim on the other hand is golden.

I think youll really enjoy it. Probably come back with somethings youll want to see in ESO that is in Skyrim.

Any citations on that info?
And to me, if anything, ESO feels more like Oblivion than Skyrim.
Don't get me wrong, I love Skyrim. It's a big and beautiful game. But not my fave ES game.
