I think it would be cool if housing had armor & weapon racks that you could store a complete set of armor & weapons on. SO like.. if you were regularly leveling characters in BWB & making/collecting sets every few levels... you could hang a set of armor on a rack that was "Lvl10 stamina set" (for example) & when you level your next guy, he could take that set off the rack & use it.
Another random idea is having a pantry to store all your crafted food, drinks, potions & poisons. So again, when a character levels up & wants higher level food/drink/potions/poisons.. he takes it from the pantry & leaves the lower level stuff in there for the next character to level with.

Yup. In Skyrim and Oblivion, housing was little more than a place to go dump stuff that you did not want to sell or throw away, yet did not need. I did tend to park the unwanted companions from Skyrim in whatever that place was called in Whiterun. The one with the fireplace in the middle of the room that blocked navigation.

Probably a bit controversial to ask this given the support it seems to generate but…
Whats the point of player housing?
- is it just a base of operations that you are likely to return to frequently?
- Does it provide extra storage?
- Does it give you anything the game doesn’t already? Eg craft stations?
- Is it just a money sink (gold and crowns)
- Is it to aid roleplay?
- Would a guild hall not be a better option?
yes, to all those things, except the last. It's called an 'immersive' game, which ESO currently isn't, but the previous solo PC games very much were. Not to mention in the solo PC games you could run around naked and the sheriff didn't show up, handcuff you to a tree and... Nvm.

- is it just a base of operations that you are likely to return to frequently? - yes and also meeting point for social interaction
- Does it provide extra storage? -- no info about it yet, but hopefully yes
- Does it give you anything the game doesn’t already? Eg craft stations? - crafting stations the same as in the game, but furniture crafting and then trading of furniture will be added to the game
- Is it just a money sink (gold and crowns) - yes
- Is it to aid roleplay? - yes
- Would a guild hall not be a better option? no info about this yet, but there are huge houses in the game, so it has been speculated, that it might be future guild halls
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll probably get a small one somewhere but I cant see when I would ever use it, other than as a dumping ground for cr*p I collect.
With Skyrim being re-released and the usual influx of games being released in the run up to Christmas, ESO will be losing a lot of players. The previous 3 DLCs have been mediocre at best and with housing being next in the pipeline, unless they release a DLC like Orsinium or Imperial City, what are Zenimax doing to keep players hooked?
What's the point to this, what's the point to that...
This is a video game. Plain and simple. There's no point to any of it other than entertainment. People find decorating, crafting, and the whole idea of housing fun.
What's the point of a Dungeon run? Does it pay the bills? Put food on the dinner table? No, it also simply entertains. Just like housing.

I would spend millions of gold to help fund an awesome guild hall. I see very little point in getting an apartment so I can just sit in there.
For me, the number one reason I want housing is that it seems it will include DPS test dummies. That alone is worth it IMO. The two other things that would make me spend serious gold/crowns would be:
1. Farmland where I can grow alchemy mats.
2. Mannequins that I can dress and access from any character. That would be a game changer. I would pay lots of crowns to be able to dress 8 -10 mannequins, and then be able to go onto any character and equip, for example, mannequin number 3.
I agree completely.Knootewoot wrote: »It makes me feel more connected to the world. A place to live. I can't remember any mmo I have played without housing. Ok, I do: PotBS and Tabula Rasa. All other games I played had it:
Sage of Ryzom
SWG
Vanguard
EQ2
BDO
SWTOR (later on)
I like to decorate, store loot and a place to retreat. It's my little private part of the world. I just like it.
I guess ESO's housing will provide the following for me:
- furniture crafting
- decoration
- extra storage
- guild meetings in a large house
I can't wait for it to be implemented. I always want a small or medium house so not to big.
