I agree with this. Why not leave duel ( I love dueling) to outside towns? I mean towns dont look like a good place to have 50 players all dueling.Towns are more like a place to relax and do your things after battling dungeons and trials. Also leaving dueling to outside towns have the potential to populate small towns and areas outside the main towns, creating alternate social hubs.
I'm curious as to why the duelist are saying towns are the only place to find duels? Can't you ask for duels via zone chat?
I know zone chat is a mess with lfg, wts and other spam. That's a whole other problem though. We need more zone channels.

1. Duelers are camping in town around the markets and Wayshrines which is not only really noisy and confusing but is lagging the worlds out when you go to town to do anything like oh research craft go to the bank ect
2. Getting spammed with 100s of invites to duel when you enter town not fun at all makes me want to log out right there
3. No need to play the game now just go kill 5000 mud crabs and you will level so you can beat the main boss
4. Elder Scrolls has ALWAYS been a story where you started low level and had to work your way up to a main boss you guys are making it more about PVP less about environment and bringing the PVP into the town where the PVE people have to be around 100s of people just waiting to duel when they would of been in the other world and town is crowded enough with all the duel
You could make it to where they can't PVP so many feet around market/towns/crafting benches/ ect that way we don't have to have all these people sitting and dueling messing up our gaming experience when they could be out in the out skirts of town or the woods where all the fighting is going on anyway or go to the PVP world.
Limit the numbers of duel invites a day they can send so that maybe it will calm down a bit on the spam invites and maybe there won't be 100s of people camping in town and making it IMPOSSIBLE TO DO ANYTHING INSIDE OF ANY TOWN

Point by point:
1. Dueling (along with other aspects) was introduced to not only help maintain, but also to increase the playerbase through increasing the number of things players may do. Considering that players have been requesting this for more than 2 years, it's about time they got it in here.
2. You have an option to auto decline duels. It happens so quick that you don't even realize you were challenged unless you were actively paying attention to the top right of your screen. ESC>Settings>Social>Auto-Decline Duels On.
3. This point has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with your title, but let's address it (and the first portion of point 4) anyway. In other ES games (such as the more recent Oblivion and Skyrim), you could almost go straight to the boss at the beginning of the game, once you got far enough in the storyline. Everything in the game scaled down to your level. As you leveled higher and higher, everything scaled up with you. Zenimax has kinda gone the reverse way with this and scaled you up to the content, but essentially it's all the same in concept.
4. This game was advertised heavily as a game that equally involved both PvP and PvE aspects. Over the years, PvE players have gotten so much more than PvP players as far as zones they could travel to, quests they could do, and content they could explore. Before One Tamriel, PvPers had two zones. That's it. Cyrodiil and the Imperial City. Now, PvPers and PvEers have the same number of places to enjoy. There is PvP content in PvE zones (now) just as there (has always been) PvE content in the PvP zones.
Your caps lock at the end is both entirely unnecessary and misleading as that none of this makes anything impossible, to include, but not limited to: anything.
You can still use crafting tables its mainly people being annoyed by the lightsCJohnson81 wrote: »catalyst10e wrote: »Khaos_Bane wrote: »WillhelmBlack wrote: »It wouldn't hurt if duelling was only allowed outside of towns and cities. How about, you can initiate a duel but it's a crime and if a guard catches you, you both get a telling off or a bounty?
No sir. As the anti-pvp justice system people love to chant "No pvp repercussion for my pve activiites" this door swings both ways so No pve repercussions for my pvp activities
Besides most of this is blown way out of proportion. I hardly got challenged to duels and when i declined people just moved on. I didnt see anyone dueling in the bank or the crafting station in Wayrest. Let people play with their new shiny toy.
I think it adds a lot of life to the towns.
No, PvP should be limited to specific areas, certainly not in towns. There simply is no way to justify it. Just enough immature players in the game that bug others. Having a duel right on a crafting table in front of other people or inside a bank. If THAT is your PvP activity it is ignorant and intentionally bothering other people. Dueling in those locations OFFERS YOU NOTHING but harassing others and that is complete BS.
Well to be fair, you need to FIND someone to challenge them, and where do you find people? In a town. The towns are a sort of HUB where you go when you're not doing anything terribly important. Grabbing a daily, crafting armor, swapping gear in the bank, etc, etc. Just basic things. You don't exactly find people in a delve and challenge them, they're busy DOING the delve or in a quest. Logically the town is the only place I could really SEE duels happening, unless it's with a person you know who previously agreed to a specific place.
Keep in mind tho, when Dark Brotherhood dropped, Kvatch was a ghost town of dead NPC bodies piled up everywhere. As mentioned before, the shine will wear off, duels most likely wont be so frequent within the towns and we will continue on as usual.
AMEN! Of course duels will happen where the world is more populated.
This is where a public message board could come in handy. Announce tournaments with times and locations, offer crafting services, allow guild recruitment. They could be posted in fighters guild halls.
I don't understand the issues with duels around tables though. Do they actually prevent you from using tables or are people annoyed because of all the lights going off in the background? That's some "keep of my lawn, you pesky kids" stuff right there.
Pretty much this.AmbrosiaPeach wrote: »This new update has killed the game for a lot of people or is killing the game slowly but surely

These bananas can be fed to the monkey to increase its appeal or can be spent to teach the monkey new dance moves. There should be costumes that boost or reduce certain stats. The end game reward that all players would be going for is the ultimate costume: the monkey ballerina costume.
I've read several threads on this and I'm on console, so I don't have first hand knowledge of what's going on.
I don't see any reason why duelist should be kicked out of towns. That's taking things to far. At the same time though, I don't understand why duelist would be dueling in banks and basically on top of stations and traders.
I understand this is probably a small portion of the dueling population doing these things to basically grief other players. A few have even admitted as much in these threads.
Those of you that are just dueling to be dueling should be upset at some of the suggestions OP and people posting in other threads have put forth, but the ones that are doing it to grief people may ruin it for everyone.
This is basically about Internet trolling.
I will preface my opinion by once again linking this article. Internet trolls enjoy nothing more than causing strife, annoyance, and setting groups against one another because it makes them feel powerful. Duelling has allowed these trolls to set PvP and PvE players at one another's necks. It's not right. I've belaboured the point that PvP players are lovely people and not the problem, they'll know why duelling in towns is disruptive. They won't be manipulative about it, either. They won't portray spamming fireballs at a crafting station as 'having fun.' Read that article, you really need to understand just how manipulative these people can be.
These are the people we're dealing when when it comes to duelling in towns. It isn't normal PvP players. It's trolls. It's basically sadistic people who get off on ruining another's day. What's happening is that these trolls are organising to get together around wayshrines, banks, crafting plazas, and roleplay events just to cause a disruption. They do this because it makes PvE players angry at PvP players, directing the hatred away from the trolls. This is how they entertain themselves. Again, read the article. This isn't just your everyday PvP players who're doing this, they know better. We've seen plenty of PvP players supporting the notion of moving duelling out of town, plenty of them. They're good people, they understand why it ruins the game and why it would help to kill the community. They also understand that it causes friction, and it makes them a scapegoat for things that aren't their fault.
No one but an Internet troll is going to go to an RP event, or a crafting station, or a bank to duel, just to disrupt people. And the thing is? Like I said, this could really mess with people. If someone avoids PvP for a reason, having a duel go on around them as they're trying to just craft in peace could give them an anxiety attack. These trolls don't care about that kind of thing. They don't care that they're going to kill off the RP community by haunting their events with duelling. They don't care about anything but the sense of power they feel when they duel somewhere they shouldn't.
There is no good, sensible, or logical reason to allow duelling in towns. It only enables Internet trolls who want to set PvP and PvE players against one another. This is the kind of trolling that so many other games have seen. Up until now, the PvP and PvE communities of this game have been largely agreeable. What happens when these trolls start making PvE players hate PvP players because the 'PvP players' are stopping them from crafting, banking, roleplaying, et cetera? I know that these are trolls just masquerading as PvP players, but most people won't. This is the silliest decision ZOS could have made. And it's going to require a pretty fast hotfix to restrict duelling.
In the long term, we could seek out better solutions (such as hiding duels, making it a crime, or whatever else). Though I think for the immediate future, to stop this before it becomes toxic and irreparable, we need to restrict duelling in towns. Let's not let some Internet trolls destroy the community.
