Passive Mode: PvE with optional PvP, everywhere.

Lol I play GTA online all the time, people abuse the hell out of passive mode. Follow you in a jet and wait til you're not paying attention, come out of passive, bomb the crap out of you, go back into passive. This is a bad idea for ESO honestly.

100% exactly this. It would take about 35 minutes for someone to figure out how to abuse it and within 48 hours there would be 900 posts on here proclaiming the new "battering ram door stacking safe mode meta" the end of the world. No thanks.

Id be ok with this if and only if it occurred in different instance of the world. Basically instead a "passive" mode you would be teleported into a different instance of an area that would allow pvp. However if you did not opt into this, you would continue to play the game as normal without even being able to see the people pvping. This would hopefully reduce the lag that this idea would cause. Also you would only be able to change between pvp and pve instances at wayshrines.

Honestly though I really don't see the point of adding this. Cyrodill at least has the benefits of ap and campaign rewards while as this wouldn't really have any objectives and would maybe provide some ap.

I am familiar with GTA's passive mode and its immersion breaking BS and a constant reminder of how it's not a real MMORPG.
ESO don't need to learn anything from gtao (quite the opposite)
And furthermore this idea is horrible.

ESO could learn from GTAO's virtual nonexistent downtime. Though I do realize ESO uses a central server and GTAO uses client servers, still nice never having downtime but for maybe an hour every 2-3 months for DLC's that 98% of the time never need an emergency hot fix lol.

You would like to have a pvp everywhere except builds ? Even between members of the same faction and in town , literally everywhere on the entire map ?

I honestly hope this does not happen. As others stated before , this opens the game to an incredible amount of grieving , ganking lowbies that just started the game , since you have access to all areas this means you can go Stros Mokai and just blast the living hell out of people fresh out of Coldharbour , just for the lulz. Even with battle leveling , do you honestly thing that a guy who just barely got his first couple of shill points can stand up to any of the higher levels ?

The second issue is that it doesn't make sense from a game play aspect ; you have 3 factions that battle for control of the Ruby Throne in a dedicated area that is massive and offers opportunities for small or large battles , but you would like to take this fight out in the pve areas which are a different environment on top of the fact that the game was never designed to have contested areas.

Also the toggle system that you mentioned doesn't protect you from get your ass handed to you by some people who just want to mess around with you , like @danielpatrickkeaneub17_ESO already provided an example of this , from the game you took the idea from.

The 3rd issue that i see is the added technical aspect of what you are proposing. Right now when you step into Cyrodil or the Imperial City you have that battle spirit thing that reduces the healing done , on top of adding some HP and other stuff , can't remember now off the top of my head , but the point is this thing is permanently with you while you are in there , while in the pve areas there is no such restriction , because the game is balanced with the player's full array of skills and their entire power against the environment , intact.

If your suggestion would be implemented, the pvp stuff would spill into the pve environment and this would mean balancing the entirety of the game to cater to potential pvp everywhere , which would mean pve would be impacted since mobs , bosses and everything else related to quests would have to be turn into nothings , with no actual challenge to players , since they can't use their abilities to their fullest because of the pvp stuff. This happened in the Imperial City , when they placed the flags they nerfed the mobs and bosses to better accommodate the pvp in there, but this is a calculated move and the most logical one since that area was designed with pvp in mind.

So again , just... no please.

This would personally irritate me to no end to have PvP in my PvE that's why i voted no.
Open world PvP in general would be the worst thing in the history of ESO to happen.
