Heat in the winter and air conditioning in the summer, for example, or water services, or food deliveries to your local stores.
Now, before you jump all over me and say that ESO is a game, not something that's life or death, of course you're right. But the fundamental point is the same. We are paying for a service that we are not receiving for a significant percentage of time. Why isn't there a test system and production system like with most organizations? Do ongoing maintenance on the test system and move updates to production when ready, seamlessly. Happens all the time. Many organizations cannot afford to have any systems downtime. But this one sticks its customers with a high percentage of downtime most weeks and people blindly accept it. Go figure.

I agree, I really don't know why people blindly accept it and shout "ZOS is doing their jobs!", if I told my boss that doing my job was me bringing down our services for hours and hours 2 days out of 7 he'd find someone that actually could do the job.
It's not like it's just ZOS though, the whole gaming industry makes people in similar jobs in other industry types just blink in disbelieve at what gamers will let them get away with.

Im no pvp player but i could see that this grouping bug needed fixing asap for the pvppeeps so i use the downtime to assess i am addicted to eso as i dont like server being down and to do some other, useful things in rl as zos recently started to give etas which makes the downtime bearable:)

Because you clearly lack an understanding of how maintenance on a server based service should be done and therefore naively praise incompetence.
Still doesn't justify a "you're pathetic" comment
Fair point. "Naive" would have been a more diplomatic choice but would have failed to communicate my frustration at seeing people defending things that are not worthy of defense.

Calling someone pathetic is not diplomatic and does not communicate anything but a rude comment with no substance. Just take a breath, i'm assuming you breathe?
