Mages Guild Lvl 10 - how many Lorebooks (complete zones) does it take?

How many zones do I need to complete to hit level 10 in the Mages Guild? I've fully completed 4 of the 5 starter zones, and 2 vet zones (6 zones total), and I'm still only close to 6.5 levels in the Mages Guild.

Do the Mage Guild quests level up the skill line too? If not, how many more zones do I need to collect?! I don't remember it taking this long on my first character, but then again, I did all the quests on him too.

I've completed all AD zones, and 2-2 zones from EP and DC, also Cyrodiil, and i got lvl10.

So 10 zones total? Did you do all the Mage Guild quests too? Do those level up the skill line?

from my own experience it takes around 200, but you get more points for completing book sets.

I just used the add on http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info288-LoreBooks.html and whent zone to zone statring at the starting zone,. it takes time and there is no easy way

Console player here. No freaking add-ons for this crap. That's why I hate doing this on my Alts.

The skyshards and lorebooks addons should be apart of the official game, or at least the lorebooks. I can't imagine doing this without them

Get all the books in one alliance, finish the missing books in the libraries in Cyrodiil, then it should be 3-4 zone libraries to get to 10. Just FYI, some zones require quests to be completed to get the books. Auridon, Eastmarch, & Rivenspire are ones that I can remember.

They should be. Or the least they could do is that when you collect a skyshard/lorebook on one character, it shows up on the map for all your other characters.. Hell, I'd even pay a few crowns for a scroll or something in the store that would do this..

Unless you pick the dungeon lore books and the ones in Cyrodiil, you will reach level 10 mages guild after you pick up every book in 10 alliance zones (2 alliances) and Coldharbour. Leveled it recently on 2 chars and got to the meteor in the middle of the last zone in Cadwell's Silver.

Riverspire doean't really. You can get someone to travel to the wayshrine and you travel to them. But by yourself, you're right, you needed quest to access it.

I never bother with aurion or eastmarch fro that reason. All the other faction zones, coldharbour and 2 or 3 collection should be enough.

Put some music on and it's fine. I've done it 11 times, so after a few it was really quick as I knew where most were.

Next patch the dailies will help. Apparently you can group up abd share them, so should be able to do a few a day. No idea how much xp they give though.

All characters I created, except the first when I didn't know about addons, took me all purple books of 3 regions and a couple of the fourth zone and I haven't done the quests to ease out (and because I wanted them at higher difficulties of Veteran Ranks back in the day)

Dulfy never finished the game. Eastmarch is incomplete for instance and fails to mention that book 10 is locked behind 2hrs of quest.

I use this one on my laptop. It's more thorough and Dulfys markings are way off. Esp in gratwood.

I didn't touch cyrodill, but i got mage guild level 10, 2 zones into cadwell's gold. (This also included Wrothgar, and collecting every book in each zone to complete the set because that gives a bonus to the XP)

It's better to go for the dungeon ones though, since you will also pick Undaunted on the way and some of the new monster sets. The dungeon books are available only in version 1 of those who have 2.

Mmmm... normal dungeons don't take long. Spindle's book is in the middle of the dungeon, AND completing the dungeon quest will give them a skill point.

Dulfy is fine.

Ignore auridon and eastmarch. The quest to do that is too long. Get someone to port you to Rivenspire. Same with coldharbour. You can get ported to those books. Grahtwood and reader's march have a book locked behind part of a quest, but they take 5 minutes each.

Then look at Dulfy for complete sets (out of divines and dieties, poetry and song etc) and finish like 3 of them. Should be enough.

Auridon lorebook got moved you don't need to do the quest. It's now in the pub place in the northern town. No need to do oblivion gate quests.

Same for Rawlka with the mansion, it's now in a small camp NE.

Stormhaven lorebook was also moved. No need to do that quest.

Only the eastmarch one got left out.

Of course starting tomorrow (on PC - for console you'll have to wait a couple of weeks) you'll be able to do Mages Guild dailies in order to advance the skill line rather than having to go lorebook hunting if you don't like doing the lorebook thing.

On my 2nd character, I leveled him almost exclusively in PvP, doing only my own alliance, MQ and dungeons to get skill points.
After getting full sets of each area's lorebooks, all the PvP lorebooks, Coldharbour lore, as well as 16/17 dungeon lorebooks (17 was glitched and wouldn't drop sometimes), I only needed to get a handful from 1 additional zone to get to 10 although I'm sure if the 17th dungeon lore hadn't glitch the XP from that book as well as the set completion bonus would have leveled me to 10 without the need for additional alliance zone lore books.

Your looking at maybe 100 or so lorebooks, with set completion bonuses, else it's more.

Get someone to travel to that way shrine out in the far far east of eastmarch so you can travel to them. The lorebook is three steps from the shrine.

Same for the skuldafn way shrine in rivenspire, the platform room of skoria is bigger than the distance from shrine to book. The most difficult part is asking a guildie to spend 30 seconds being a taxi. 30 seconds.

And about that lorebook in auridon... What was that town? Velyn Harbor? Anyway... You can go around that stun barrier by walking along the water to the west and hopping up rocks to behind the building, and are free to walk to the lorebook. But try to enter that building's back door and you'll get relocated back out to the front. So it isn't stuck behind a quest either.

I did a rough count when I was close, and iirc it took about 180 lorebooks to make it to meteor.

Oh, and dulfy has issues with accuracy on a few locations in reaper march.
