This Set is so involved with Magicka but yet, it's forth item bonus is Weapon damage! WTF ZOS?

I'm sorry that I didn't include "Keep the Weapon Damage bonus" to the poll. Hit Enter by mistake but me a good reason why they should keep the weapon damage.

I'd be fine with ANY change to help magic builds because as it currently stands, I can't justify using this set due to that dead stat and the fact the 5 piece doesn't proc on DoTs

Change the Weapon Damage Bonus to Max Magicka.

A long time ago, destruction staff light and heavy attacks scaled off of weapon damage. This set was built to help with that. It was never updated when they made it CP160, but they should have.

Frostfire five piece also needs a buff, it should do as much as viper at least.

I would love to get this set updated.
And while you're at it make it actually work the way it says in the tooltip!
Make it work on any ice damage (DoT too) and without internal cooldown!

The better question is: Why does it not procc on damage over time frost dmg?

Even with a fix to the weapondmg bonus it´s entirely useless until the 5p bonus gets fixed to procc on wall of elements and frost touch.

There's weapon damage because ZOS doesn't give two *** obviously. They rather introduce a metric ton of new sets.

pretty sure is oftentimes not enough.

It still has a weapondmgbonus and it is still bugged in terms of functionality regarding damage over time effects with frost dmg.

On reddit, ZOS did a AMA(ask me anything)

I asked for some underwhelming sets to be updated (like Ice Heart, Shadowrend) and also Ice Furnace.
Wrobel answered me and said they will look into it.

.. That was a PTS patch ago.

i went with spell damage so that all the lower bonuses - max mag crit damage help the final element - damage that scales off or benefits from those.

And i mentioned this a while back in the itemization thread but no idea if they heard it.

i hope it changes too.

one of the last remnants of skewed sets leftover from earlier points in the design.

and you know anything to help make frost mage viable.

I don't think a 400 something damage (batttle spirit) AOE proc effect is viable.

I'm thinking harder hitting (5-6K), 100% proc chance, single target, and 4 second proc CD on par with the viper sting poison damage set. But that'all never happen.

I try to balance personally. 3K spell damage and around 40K-42K max magicka seems a reasonable compromise.

Spell damage people sit around 4-5K spell damage and 30-35K max magicka. They hit like a truck with alchemist proc/julianos/dual wield, drinks keep their magicka regen high, and they generally have higher crit than a max magicka build.

Max magicka people sit around 50K max magicka and 2K-2.5K spell damage.

This is one of the many sets that slipped through the cracks when they reintroduced some old sets. Like someone else said, spell used to be scaled off of weapon damage... so this wasn't a bad set back in the day.

Be nice if they fixed it, might give magicka build some boost/option.

They would have to make Winter Bourne a 100% proc chance with a 6s cooldown to make it as good as Viper.

isnt viper a like 7k damage one target auto on melee hit with a 4s cooldown?

if so, assuming magica dmg is fixed for 4pc, this is about 1k dmg to all targets aoe and ranged. So looks like the break even point is 3-4 targets IF one can keep the frost damage flying... which any decent destro can.

but honestly what we really truly need is for the 4pc bonus to be all magic and elemental damage turns into cold damage.

THAT would be cool!

Of course we keep this:

Weapon Damage -> Spell Damage
Spell Crit -> Max Magicka/Max Health

Option 1 )
5pc Bonus: "50% chance when damaging target with Frost to also deal Frost Damage to enemies in a 8m radius."

Option 2 )
5pc Bonus: "When a Target is damaged with a fully charged heavy attack from a Frost Staff, every elemental damage dealt for 20 seconds is turned into Frost Damage. This effect has a cooldown of 30 seconds".

Option 2.5)
5pc Bonus: Same as Option 2 but instead turns Shock Damage only into Frost Damage. I think the Sorcerer makes more sense controlling multiple elements ^^

Why Option 1:
- Replacing Fire Damage with Frost = Many Chances to proc Frost Damage based Sets
- Who would use this set for Fire Damage anyway

Why Option 2:
- Replacing Fire Damage with Frost = Many Chances to proc Frost Damage based Sets
- Sorcerers and Dragonknights now can turn into "Frost Mages/Knights" which opens up new Build Options, even without combining it with other Frost Sets.

Why Option 2.5:
- The Sorcerer should have more ways to be played like, thats all

if Ice Furnace was to work like ToolTip says, i'd be a reliable constant fire burst in addition to the regular cold damage. damage could be increased though.

Just copy'ing it to be a bad viper imitate is just weak, bro.
Why not make all armor sets Viper and all monster helmets Velidreth cuz its so fun.

Well, this is the worst and the most impractical set in the game. The weapon dmg bonus is an obvious oversight which should be fixed (not "changed"). And in addition to replacing weapon dmg with spell dmg, the fifth bonus should deal frost (not flame) damage - combined with winterborn set they both would be perfect for those wanting to be frost mages.
