I only just got Gomers Never Die geared up, but after I hopped on a resource flag and got 8 kills from a 15ish person group I got some colorful language and a lot of questions about how I was wiping folks when I had 68k health. I'm not even my final form.

You grind out a build like this and twink it with the best gear to kill mostly new people in green and blue gear in BWB and then you're all surprised when people despise you and those like you.Blue gear and blue enchants is more then sufficient in *lowbie pvp* Hell, I do just fine in blue gear, blue jewelry, blue weapons, and white enchants. You're obviously a decent player with or without the twinked gear and would most likely have killed almost the same amount of newbie players in green gear if you had the decency to not twink your gear. You obviously have some amount of talent at theory crafting builds. Why is it you and those like you feel the need to twink your gear in BWB? I pose that question to everyone who does it. I am honestly curious. I'd love to hear good non douchie reasons to twink out lowbie pvp characters.

to fight equally other people like "us" as you stated. I`m personally running purple gear and that is enough but some people Gold their stuff because the time they put in the game every since they started playing (Some since beta) has been in Non-vet PvP. I for example have been in BWB for almost 2 years now. And there are people still here that were there when I was starting and even before.

We are the veterans of BWB and 80%+ of our game time goes in BWB. It's not just a small game time we do. We decided to go BWB for many reasons, right now the reasons we tend to stay is No-CP and No monster helm with crazy proc sets. Therefore, as we spend most of our time fighting in BWB, why not spend as much resource as time in there??

Also may not have noticed this bit leveling out of your gear kicks your stats in the pants. It's more efficient to wear purple for 6-10 levels then white every 2 levels.

I'd also like to point out that it is really easy to purple gear. I do nothing but pvp and am a quarter ass crafter and still have a nice stack of purple resin

@TipsyDrow , there are a number of reasons I remain in BwB:

-This is where many of my friends are playing. For whatever reason, I've fallen into a community and I really enjoy reliably playing with these people.
-I enjoy talking to new players and helping them improve. While I do a lot of trolling in zone, I'll generally whisper people to offer them advice or clarify things. This is something that I don't think really ever makes it public, but it's something I enjoy quite a bit and I'm pretty actively doing it. I've spent my in-game money making weapons and armor for new players, even when they haven't been affiliated with my guild.
-There are build opportunities (and this is less true with One Tamriel) that are simply not viable in vet PvP because they have not been scaled to CP160.
-I do not enjoy CP campaigns because the matter of resource management has been effectively eliminated and it's established an endless (sort of, just because cap increases) degree of vertical progression and power creep that incentivizes damage stacking. Similarly, I don't enjoy the vet PvP meta because it's become increasingly based off of proc sets like Viper, Velidreth, etc. I don't think that empowers good technical play, but bases things a lot more on RNG. I personally take issue with that (and abilities that are RNG-based like Shuffle and Blur).
-I very honestly find that there are stronger players in BwB than on average in Azura's. Azura's population tends to be people that avoided PvP for a long time because they felt they would be underpowered until they are maximum level. So they finally enter PvP, but they have no PvP abilities because all they did was grind in PvE armor (that they still wear) until they hit CP160. BwB has a lot of people that experience a whole progression of PvP as they go from level 10-50.
-I play on a somewhat dated Macbook Pro and medium graphics settings. I can't handle a lot of vet PvP, especially during the times I can generally play because of the enormously larger number of players, AOE use, and the associated calculations. If I want to PvP, I can either play during unusual hours (I can't), or I can play BwB. If you want to buy me a nice computer so I can play vet, then I'll go vet.

Those are reasons that I prefer to play in BwB, but they don't really answer why I choose to twink my gear. Simply put, I've got the money to do so and why not? I have my vets equipped and now I never play them because of the first reason I offered above. Why not spend my in-game gold on the part of the game I play?

The fact that I have nice gear changes how I play. For example, I really don't gank. I had 4.7k weapon damage and 40k max stamina on my stamplar, Zergball One. If I knock you off your horse, it's incredibly unlikely you'll get back up. But that's not fun because nobody really ended up playing the game. I try to challenge myself and I'll run into large groups of people - it's still a game balanced predominantly around 1v1 play so when you increase the opposing number the difficulty does not scale in a linear manner. If I were in lower quality gear I would probably just play much more conservatively than I do presently, but it would only change how many people I'm willing to engage and still feel like I have a viable chance.

I hope this clarifies things a bit. While there are some people like yourself that have some vitriol against me or those like me (and this can manifest as rude whispers, getting accused of macroing, etc), I'd say that 95% of the interactions I have with players on other alliances are really nice. Generally, I end up having a pleasant conversation and giving them build advice - in one case I gave a player advice about applying to medical school.

On an informative side note, enchantment quality or the level of the blue rune doesn't matter with battle level in BwB. White enchants provide the same values as gold.

tl;dr: jk, go read it. Enjoy the wall of text.

Cola... most of us could beat pretty much anything in white gear. We just choose not to because it`s boring and takes longer to kill, therefore less kills per session and less 1vX awesomness. we`re not happy when we 1v1 a noob. or 1v2 1v3 1v4. 1v5 and up gold gear or white gear... thats where the real fun comes in and the real fights WE are looking for comes.

I know that for myself even if I equip white gear only, killing anyone in 1v1 wouldn`t feel as good as 1v5. White play is boring. And 95% of pvpers in BWB are boring to kill 1v1. 1v1 by itself is 99.9999% boring.

Edit: and my Math just made NO SENSE! hahahahaha

I think they don't play that often. I haven't seen them besides a few times I can count on one hand. I mostly saw him while CP were still enabled, but I'm pretty sure their removal isn't the cause for their absence. They're probably just doing something else for fun.

I'd like to see more reasons from other people as well. I am truly intrigued by some of the answers so far but I'd like more from different people. I know people in my own faction do it. I'd like to hear from them also. I am not going to respond to anyones answer or reasoning as my opinion is already known. And BTW Mr Adenoma I never whispered and acussed you of macroing, I never whispered you at all untill you whispered me. To let you know why my hatred of yourself and your guild is so intense, it goes wayyyy back to when I was in AD. I was in voice chat once and heard you say you were going to get your EP friends to help you get Emp. That's the reason I have always had such a low opinion of you. As for your entire guild, well that's because when I was AD all your guild ever did was tower farm. Now you know, knowledge is power. back to the questions at hand, please proceed.

My previous comment was sarcasim but your response intrigues me. Maybe as veterans of black water we (I havnt played as much as some but id like to think no newbie) should wear white armor and give these new players a better chance. As well as giving more of a challenge.
That way when you 1vx no one can get upset that you have better gear.

I dont think Im good enough to be called one of those people but, I have been here a very very long time : )) so Im sure there are those who may see me this way, so here ya go.

My amazing bride makes all my gear. Shes a max lvl crafter with every motif in the game. So she makes me cool sht. All I ever run is crafted gear. Its usually purple, ok always purple because my crafter likes me. Recently I have ran the Alchemist set. Is that a (whatever the word is) build? I also bring my toons in at lvl 10 or 15, always around that. So I don't think that qualifies either. We have just been playing a long time, have the materials, have the crafting skillllzz, and the time.

As for why I stay in Bwb. The selfish, honest and borderline egotistical answer is, because Blackwater needs me, AD needs me and my guild. Not to smash and destroy, but to help and guide. I love Blackwater. It has been my home and I have had many great times here with my family and my friends. Why would I leave? Why would anyone leave? That is the real question.

Maybe my pronouns were unclear. I didn't mean to say that you had accused me of macroing. I've been told by some people about folks saying things like that in zone, etc. You just sent me a lot of expletives and ad hominems.

On a separate note, I don't have EP friends that I'd ask to help emp me. Some of my friends play EP a bit and AD a bit, so I might ask them if they'd play on their AD toons in my group (because we're friends and I enjoy playing with them). I've never coordinated with another alliance's guild or group to help in throning myself and I never will. I have talked to both DC and EP group/guild leaders to coordinate dethrones of EP/DC emperors, but we both have a mutual interest there.

And tower farming is a misunderstanding of a lot of what we do. We have a policy to flag a keep first. We generally try to take it, but end up dropping an FC at a resource. Generally, we've coordinated with a larger AD zone guild so that we can distract by keeping a secondary target like Glade flagged to cut transit while they take a larger group to take a primary target like Ash or Aleswell. Not to mention, we've happily stormed keeps with 8-14 member groups to crown AD emps, regardless of their affiliation with our guild or not.

If you think of us as a farming guild, then that's your fault and not ours. Personally, I think I've matured/changed a bit as a player and now I hate ending up in resource towers unless we're 2-4 people. I liken it to my horse gank example - it's not very interactive, but it was what I started out doing.

I spend a pretty small amount of time in game (I'd say I average 6ish hours a week playing in total and not all of that PVP) compared to many people, and have not done got gud. If I ran in white or green gear, I'd be wrecked A LOT more than I already am...

Not right away because people will have to farm gear/jewelry at level and at every lvl incrememnt they want said gear in. Eventually you will see different gear setups though. There will be some people who actually take the time to grind out the new sets.

Adenoma is incorrect here. The color matters. The LEVEL does not. If you put a level 10 glyph on a level 40 item, it will scale up--one of the few things ZOS missed when they did the pass to make levels of things matter in scaled zones.
