ESO+ Free Loot Crate idea

Jailbirdy
Jailbirdy
✭✭✭✭✭

"Loot Crates" seem a bit overpriced in crowns and the drop rate on the current stuff causes some unrest when RNG goes against you.

Maybe give the ESO+ Members the ability or a token to get 1 Free crate a month??? (without using the 1500 crowns they get now)

  • It would encourage people to subscribe to ESO+
  • It would provide another benefit to membership
  • A Crate token could possibly be used for other things???

Last post I saw in the PTS forums and the video stream from Deltia show the cost at 400 crowns each. (and the video streamers are saying the cost is too high for the items you win from the crates)

    Hope that helps.

I was thinking that too because I won't waste my subscription crowns on these anyway and it could get more players to subscribe too. Maybe it could encourage ESO Plus members to stay subscribed as well, because some of them have cancelled their subscription because of these crates.

3x crates a month would be nice.

It's not like these crated will cost zos anything and it would be an incentive to eso + because all you get now is small exp boosts and such, access to dlc (though theres a deal with most of the dlc for like £22) , crowns and a bag.

Now the crowns and bag are nice, but giving eso+ member basically free cosmetics would be a nice incentive.

I doubt they scrap all the work into it already, they are coming. I am just trying to offer ideas they could do to mitigate costs and retain monthly paying members.

I respect your opinion and also think the game is heading down a path that could lead us into a money sink in the future.

errrr maybe just dont have loot crates at all....just saying

Regarding ESO Plus benefits tho....I would strongly comment against any other additions without addressing the current one's that ppl complain about.

Specifically, lets point out that the gold increase is pointless but there is now a gold sink with traders being added for bids and Trials will offer more gold. Cool...but if gold is an issue, perhaps ESO Plus benefit could use a notable increase.

Crates.....naaah that would be the wrong direction.

Crates are not over priced. They are just priced. It's a choice to buy and there is no valid reason in your thread for Zos to provide any craft for free.

Thanks for your thoughts, but I stated why it may be a good idea and several people responded in agreement. I think those reasons are not invalid through an opinion.

As far as overpriced: The PTS thread is showing the results of what people get who buy 10 crates. The same amount of crowns could have purchased those items for 70% less if/when they were available. The choice to buy is irrelevant in determining whether they are overpriced.

    Thanks again for you thoughts!

Eh, they scrapped the spellcrafting system, I think there's still a chance for them to scrap what they have for this system. Keep in mind that the only thing they'd be scrapping are a tiny handful of UI elements. Crate icons, Pacrooti's interface, that sort of thing. All the items are still good and, if put on the store, would still make tons and tons of money. I think it's OK for the marketing department to sit down, think hard, and say "you know what? We messed up." Other departments have already done that and the game is better for it.

Just because some people like it doesn't make it a great idea. Heck, people always like getting something free or something extra. Doesn't make it a good idea.

The crates are a business decision. If your idea plays well for the business decision the it would be a good idea, however, I do not see any thoughts that support it being a good business decision. It would have little effect on subscriber rates, if any affect. I don't see someone thinking they should sub for a free crate every month.

But thank you for your thoughts.

I would recommend not encouraging loot crates period. Speak with your wallets if you don't like what Zenimax is offering. Begging for "more" or better rng will do no good.

I pay sub, but I definitely will not gamble. Not because I think it is not appropriate, mainly it is not my cup of tea.

I would be glad though to be able to buy for game gold mounts/cosmetics off people who gambled.

What is more important for me, I am pretty sure quite a few best housing decorations will be only within crates, and it makes me sad already....

Please, let mounts/pets/housing elements/so on received from crates be BoE.

I'm not who you quoted but I'll answer your question anyway. The crown crates are awful, the drop rate is awful, the whole crown gems thing is awful, the debasement of Pacrooti is awful. There is not a single thing about this system that I like, I think it is non-transparent and predatory. I have no desire to vindicate this system whatsoever and I want absolutely nothing to do with it.
