Were you not around pre-DB that you're so hung up on this? Or just unable to beat it pre-DB? I mean would I love the crappy traits to be removed? Of course, but I don't quite feel the same rage that you seem to.LegendaryArcher wrote: »Travestynox wrote: »No selling, trading, and no token system. It's random, deal with it.
@Travestynox Why do I have to deal with it when people who ran it before DB didn't, and got their weapons handed out the them in awesome traits? Why didn't they have to work for it*?
*work for it = run the arena 760 times on average for the weapon they wanted and 1000+ times with a chance of 20%. Before DB, it took around 30 to 70 runs, depending on your luck, to get every single weapon in Sharpened.

I have been around since console launch so I do indeed know what that means.LegendaryArcher wrote: »Stoopid_Nwah wrote: »Were you not around pre-DB that you're so hung up on this? Off Topic: I was around and ran it exactly 200 times before DB. I was just very very very very very unlucky. I only know three other players that ran it more than I before DB and didn't get it. Another reason (this is my fault though), is that I was running it on a stamina char until TG (~50 runs, which takes more than twice the time of a magicka run). Not sure if you know what exactly that means. To sum it up: 1. Max. DPS less than half of magicka (15k single target if your rotation was perfect, which it isn't without healing), 2. Vigor was only available to players that played PvP actively for a veeeery long time (Alliance Rank 10, which was >10.000.000 AP at that time), 3. No self healing except Rally on 2h, 4. CP system didn't support stam DPS as it does now/no poison morphs.
The fact I didn't want to roll a sorc slowed me down in farming. After I went magicka, I basically went from 30 deaths straight to flawless. Yes, I was unlucky. However, the chances were realistic. The chances of not getting my weapon in another 200 runs were somewhere around 2%. I could live with that.
Maybe it's understandable for you why it enraged me when they added crappy traits even though I didn't have my weapon before DB yet. Another player who ran 500+ times before DB never got his weapon either. He gave up after 1000+ runs later. The other 2 just gave up.
I know many players that started farming too late because they were waiting for a save progress feature. Sucks for them, too.
To all the people that are opposed to obtaining the weapons from malestrom in another way other that bashing your head against a wall i would like to say this:
I have no luck with RNG drops , to give you an example i farmed the skoria helm for a month and a half and i still did not get a divines one and in the end the only way i got to complete that set was to buy an infused one from the cirodil vendor.
I completed vMSA 1 time just to get the title ( no luck on a staff , got another thing , can't remember what since i really didn't care about anything else) , but that was it for me , since i really want to spend my time playing with other people in this game. I ran Dragon Star arena for the master weapons after they got bumped up to cp 160 to get the stuff that i wanted , but again , that content is designed with a group in mind so the mind numbing boredom of farming those things was cut in half by having company while doing that thing.
I am already doing veteran content and me along with my guild mates are progressing through vMOL as well , so the weapons are not 100% needed for the content , but the issue is that having the best weapons in the game barred by RNG, diminishes the pleasure of running that particular content and to a small degree hinders the smoothness of content runs that people would have otherwise.
If the there was a guaranteed way to get what you want through endless grinding of that place , like a token system or some sort of currency that could be exchanged to what you wanted at the end of the dungeon , then i would be super happy to do it over and over again , but with a system that is based on luck ( and with my complete lack of this quality ), i do not see myself going in there ever again and having the best weapons in the game randomly drop just for the select few who are willing to grind their brains out, is not fair.
So as far as i can see , there are 4 solutions to resolving this problem :
1) make a currency system similar to the stuff that drops in ICP and WGT , gather 150 or 200 or whatever amount the devs deem necessary and once you have that , you go to a guy and get your weapon
2) make a token system where the last boss this the dungeon drops an item that you can exchange it to what weapon you wish for
3) redesign the content and make it a 4 man raid just like dragonstar arena , where you can keep your current RNG dependent system in place
4) leave the current system in place , but make all the weapons BOE and allow the farmers to profit from their work and people that don't want to grind , get their thing as well.
In any case , the system as it is now , can't be left alone , vMSA is a single player experience in an MMO , that provides what are currently the best weapons in the game and is based on a system that forces players to do content that just aggravates all sides of the argument to some degree.
Solo content in a mmo isn´t an issue. It adds some variety to the game. Of those suggestions you make #1 and #2 (which is somewhat similiar to me) are good suggestions but need to be implimented in the right way. #3: Already have DSA, no need for another copy. #4 Just no

Solo content in a MMO is definitely not the issue , having , arguably , the best weapons in the game , blocked by said solo content in said MMO makes no sense to me.
Also my 1 and 2 suggestions are similar but different methods to get the stuff that you need , with the currency system taking a longer time to grind that the second one.
